Main Function of the Job
Escrow is a recently launched product within Global Transaction Banking (GTB) and has been developed under the auspices of our GTB Banking Coverage team. The group is a dedicated, customer focused team, driving sales in Escrow products across the Barclays Group and directly to third party clients. After a successful launch of Escrow services in UK, this client solution is being rolled out in the US during early 2017.
The requirements of this Director level role will be:
• To launch and grow the Escrow offering in the US, working in conjunction with the Product team to develop enhancements and make the product commercially viable.
• Business development through internal marketing of Escrow to the Investment Bank and Corporate Bank teams.
• Business development of Escrow externally through financial intermediaries, including law firms and financial advisors.
• Work with the Global Head of Escrow to deliver the business revenue plan, standardize escrow processes and documentation across regions, and ensure risk is closely monitored.
• To establish Barclays as the “Go-To” bank for clients seeking a trusted escrow agent for their important transactions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key functional partners to enable seamless and efficient end to end delivery of escrow services.
• Act as the principal contact for escalation of client and service issues related to US Escrow.
Main duties and responsibilities
Business Development – 50%
• Building a strong internal referral network to capture opportunities already embedded within the Barclays network, including Investment Banking and Corporate Banking.
• Create and drive an effective customer acquisition plan aimed at institutions that are frequent users of Escrow and intermediaries like law firms.
• Deliver on the Escrow revenue plan, by negotiating and closing Escrow transactions.
• Convert relationship leads in sales and proactively identify high value opportunities.
• Increasing awareness by providing training to internal sources and law firms on Escrow.
• Coordinate with UK Escrow team on cross border deal referrals and opportunities.
Relationship Management – 30%
• Ensure timely on-boarding of deals, in coordination with functional partners.
• Coordinate client KYC and Compliance requirements for efficient deal completion.
• Act as escalation point for any service issues and client complaints.
Product Development – 10%
• Work in partnership with Liquidity team on product enhancements.
• Provide customer feedback to Product team on areas for improvement.
• Agree competitive pricing models for transactions.
• Standardize processes and documentation in coordination with UK Escrow team.
Risk and Control – 10%
• Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards.
• Regularly review product controls for effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Basic Qualifications
• BA/BS Degree
• 5+ years of experience with Escrow, either in Product management, Sales or Client Support
• 5+ years of relevant experience demonstrating strong sales and negotiating skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Good knowledge of Escrow product landscape, including the various uses of Escrow and competitor offering in the US.
• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial drive to build a new customer base for the product.
• Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, in pursuit of client satisfaction.
• Highly effective communicator, able to deal with complex transactions involving senior internal and external executives.
• Acting as client champion and steering time-sensitive deals through the bank with a sense of urgency.
• Understanding of operational and compliance risk, especially related to cross border transactions.
