Responsible for managing relationships for HSBC Global Asset Management (Canada) Ltd (AMCA). The Vice President, Institutional Investments is responsible for direct client interaction and serves as liaison between the client, Portfolio Managers and all other business areas within AMCA. The Vice President, Institutional Investments has the primary objective of managing the relationships with Institutional clients invested in the strategies managed by AMCA. The incumbent will provide guidance and problem solving in all phases of client relationship building to assist the business activities of HSBC’s investment management entities.
Impact on the Business
• Provide guidance in all phases of client service, client relationship building, and account maintenance to assist the business activities of HSBC’s investment management entities
• Perform holistic investment strategy assessment to understand the client needs in order to identify opportunities to expand and grow existing client relationships.
• Act as a liaison between Product and Investment teams and provide solutions to outstanding issues.
• Manage the comprehensive period-end client reporting for designated product groups.
• Build relationships with local Commercial Banking (CMB) Relationship Managers and promote asset management products to develop new business leads.
Customers / Stakeholders
• Works in conjunction with Investment team to prepare for meetings with clients including performance information, investment outlooks, and investment reviews.
• Works closely with RFP (Request for Proposal team) on Due Diligence Questionnaires and RFPs.
• Provides Product Specialists and Portfolio Managers with necessary deliverables including client and product specific commentaries requested by clients.
Leadership & Teamwork
• Act as liaison between the Asset Management business including Sales, Product Specialist, Investment Team, Legal, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Performance, Finance, and Client Propositions teams and the client to ensure a best in class client experience.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
• Facilitate all phases of client service (Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Know Your Client (KYC) policies and procedures, maintenance of existing accounts, closure of terminating accounts)
• Recommend improvements to operations to mitigate risk and improve quality.
Role Context
• Role holder will report directly to the AMCA CEO .
• The role will work and liaise with all aspects of the Asset Management business including Product, Investments, Operations, and Relationship Managers.

Management of Risk
• Ensures adherence to client’s objectives, investment guidelines and regulation.
• Perform robust AML / KYC with CMB and GBM GRB
Observation of Internal Controls
• Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
• Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
• Be aware of the operational risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations
Role Dimensions
• Client service manager for AMCA’s Institutional clients. Work collaboratively with Institutional team as well as other stakeholders in AMCA and CMB to secure, service and retain a broad client base.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field.
• CFA Charter holder preferred.
• Minimum of ten years proven and progressive Financial Services experience with at least five years’ experience in Asset Management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in working with senior level clients and senior management.
• Experience working in a controls-driven environment.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-directed, but also a team player.
• Strong knowledge of Windows-based applications
