What is the opportunity?
In this role, you are responsible for the strategy, design and management of investment account offerings for mutual funds, with a focus on revenue generation and cost effectiveness. You are a subject matter expert representing the bank’s mutual fund dealer (Royal Mutual Funds Inc.) in distributing mutual funds and financial planning services through branches, contact centres, online and mobile. You will also lead strategic, operational and regulatory initiatives relating to the distribution of mutual funds and financial planning.
What will you do?
• Lead the strategy, design and development of investment account offerings to change the business in response to industry and regulatory proposals regarding how clients pay for mutual fund advice and service
• Responsible to enhance the Investment Advantage Account to ensure it becomes the premier offering for mass affluent clients
• Product owner and subject matter expert for Non-Registered Investment Accounts, Third-Party Fund Accounts, RBC Managed Portfolios and the Investment Advantage Account
• Subject matter expert regarding the distribution of proprietary and third-party mutual funds in non-registered and registered accounts
• Develops new and enhanced investment account offerings based on industry analysis, trends and regulatory changes
• Manages and approves updates to internal and external mutual fund content
• Provides design and requirements scoping for new development and provides subject matter expertise
• Comments on proposals from regulators, within deadlines
• Ensures compliance with mutual fund securities and taxation rules (CSA, MFDA, AMF, CRA)
• Key escalation point and manages product inquiries from Sales, GAM, RCOs, RFPCs and the Service Centre
• Resolves client complaints and production issues
• Reviews and approves changes to Folios; Manages issues identified by RMFI Compliance, Law Group, Internal Audit, Group Risk Management and AML
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
• 5+ years of experience with mutual funds, investment products, development, operations, regulatory and compliance
• Knowledge of mutual funds, financial planning, legislation and regulations impacting mutual fund dealers
• University degree (preferrably MBA or CFA)
• Proven prioritization, problem solving and decision making skills
• Demonstrated solid analytical skills, innovative and creative thinking
• Strong team player with the ability to impact and influence, and interact with senior executives
• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Previous sales experience in RBC an asset
