Overall purpose of role: As a Relationship Director in Corporate Banking you have responsibility for:
◦ Managing a portfolio of institutional (re)insurance clients to maximise sustainable income, including financial targets and return metrics
◦ Developing portfolio through increasing wallet share and delivering new business across products and geographies
◦ Ensuring effective risk management of clients and the overall portfolio
◦ Establishing and growing a profile as a recognised expert in your designated industry/ specialty
◦ Coordinating across Barclays’ businesses to leverage the global platform
◦ Providing excellent customer service and building deep customer relationships
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
◦ Customer Sales and Service – Delivering against financial and customer objectives, by:
◦ Focusing on our existing clients to provide excellent service and be recognised as a trusted advisor
◦ Targeting prospective clients to develop new relationships and win new business
◦ Raising Barclays brand awareness through external events etc.
◦ Building and developing KBI (Key Business Influencer) networks
◦ Demonstrating industry expertise to deliver optimum solutions
◦ Working with product partners and the wider Barclays Group to increase wallet share, including delivery of complex product solutions
◦ Adherence to product pricing policies
◦ Using client sales model to ensure regular contact with customers, including strategic annual review, service meetings, complaint resolution, etc.
◦ Risk Management & Control - Delivering against risk objectives, by:
◦ Ensuring effective risk management of portfolio
◦ Operating in accordance with Barclays’ risk appetite and lending procedures
◦ Taking ownership of high quality objective credit applications, ensure robust ongoing monitoring and control and that sound judgment is exercised at all times.
◦ Ensure high standards of data quality are maintained at all times
◦ Working to continuously improve credit knowledge and sector expertise
◦ Building an effective working partnership with credit and risk colleagues
◦ Managing 'Early warning list' customers to mitigate risk, ensuring proactive and timely referral to Credit and Business Support colleagues.
◦ Ensure compliance with mandatory risk policies and procedures relating to credit conformance and regulatory, operational, legal risk and financial crime.
◦ Values Framework, Teamwork and Collaboration– Act within and advocate for Barclays Values: Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, Stewardship
◦ Support, coach and develop team members
◦ Seek, share and embed best practices
◦ Participate fully in your Performance Development, continue to proactively develop yourself and undertake relevant training (including sales process, product, industry, etc).
◦ Actively support citizenship agenda
◦ Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues haveto ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
Your Skills and Qualifications will include
◦ Basic Qualifications
◦ Bachelor’s Degree
◦ 6+ years of Corporate and Investment banking experience.
◦ 4+ years of applicable Insurance banking experience.
◦ Preferred Qualifications
◦ MBA degree preferred.
◦ Bulge Bracket experience preferred.
