Overview of the Role:
As part of the Morgan Stanley Investment Management Operations group, this role is to provide high quality Client Reporting to Institutional Clients in Japan. This role belongs to Client Services Team in Tokyo Operations Department. This role supports and works with Institutional Sales team and Investment Management / Portfolio specialist for fulfilling disclosure requirement and client expectations.
Morgan Stanley Investment management has outsourced certain investment operations functions to State Street Bank and Trust Company globally. Client Reporting function works with the other Tokyo Operations functions and in partnership with the outsourcing service providers to ensure seamless delivery of operations support and solutions.
Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s product range is continually evolving into new product and strategy areas, demanding ever changing infrastructure and solutions. The individual will be required to contribute to these discussions to ensure that the appropriate support models are in place.
Primary Responsibilities:
Institutional Client Reporting Task
• Produce daily / weekly / monthly / quarterly / semi-annual / ad-hoc reports for Public Pension Clients and Private pension fund clients (including reporting to consultants)
• Produce client meeting book (CMB) on a quarterly / annual basis
• Communicating and working closely with sales team to provide high quality service to clients.
• Day-to-day liaison with Investment team, Portfolio Specialists, and Sales / Marketing
• Liaison with Trust Banks
• Work on reporting efficiency improvement initiatives and global projects.
• Maintenance of account and counterparty lists.
• Check and review reports produced by other staff
• Participation in and contribution to global / local projects and initiatives.
• Using strong business sense and judgment to identify potential risk areas; making appropriate recommendations and highlighting those risks via the appropriate escalation channels
Qualifications
Skills Required:
• Minimum 5 years asset management experiences in Operations (preferably with public/private pension client reporting experience)
• Basic knowledge of investment management business, regulations, and products
• Demonstrated communication ability and able to articulate complex situations
• Self-starter, problem solver, detail oriented and strong team worker are must
• Strong skills in time management, multi-tasks, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines
• PC literacy (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Access)
• Self-motivated and possess a positive working attitude
• Work well in a team environment
• Good knowledge of financial products and market
• Able to interact and communicate effectively across cultural and hierarchical lines within the firm.
• Ability to identify problems and potential risks as they arise and understand when they need to be escalated.
Skills Desired:
• Experience in a client facing function or a client service mindset is preferred
• Fluent Japanese/English language skills in both written and oral form
• PC literacy (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Access)
• Skills on Bloomberg / Syntax / Factset operation
• Skills on Trust Bank Statement and fund accounting procedure
• Knowledge of investment management business related Japanese Laws and regulations
