JOB:
Morgan Stanley Services Group Inc. seeks an Executive Director in New York, New York
Establish credit risk appetite and manage credit exposure towards new and existing counterparties. Responsible for portfolio of companies and sector analysis in the utilities, independent power (including, solar, wind and other renewables), electric co-op / municipal industries. Support the Power and Gas trading business. Underwrite energy specialized lending structures including reserve based lending, project finance, and volumetric production payments. Perform counterparty analysis for complex structured derivative, project finance and asset backed loan transactions. Oversee regulatory capital for structured transactions. Maintain watch list, perform sector analysis of counterparty risk and correlation, and maintain comparable company analysis for the Firm’s counterparties. Determine capital optimization opportunities, manage capital enhancement projects, and work with the trading desks to implement enhanced return on capital measurements. Negotiate and approve credit enhancements in asset backed loan transactions in the Power and Metals & Mining sector and complex derivative hedge transactions on combined cycle plants, wind and solar farms. Present to senior management and credit committees for large transaction approvals. Present quarterly review of the North America Power and Gas commodities portfolio to senior management. Oversee the Analyst and Associate team responsible for fundamental credit research, maintenance of internal credit ratings, underwriting standards analysis, and monitoring derivative and specialized energy loan portfolios. Collaborate with other departments including capital, accounting, market risk, CVA, risk analytics, and reporting to ensure accuracy of exposure calculations for all transactions and report and escalate cases of anomalies. Work closely with the legal and compliance to negotiate docs (ISDAs, CSAs, NAESB, EEI, etc.), incorporate relevant credit terms to provide downside protection and ensure provisions compare closely to Morgan Stanley standards.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field of study and seven (7) years of experience in the position offered or seven (7) years of experience as a Banking Associate, Banking Vice President, or related occupation. Requires demonstrated experience in credit analysis and risk management across industries; experience managing complex portfolio of investment and non-investment grade companies with significant exposure profiles; knowledge of structuring project finance transactions in areas including wind and solar; demonstrated ability to review legal documents and negotiate credit terms with clients and counsel; experience in performing detailed engineering reviews and in assimilating engineering information into risk analysis; demonstrated ability to critically review this information with independent engineering and project development consultants; requires demonstrated experience collaborating with teams across multiple functional areas; experience reviewing credit packages; and experience presenting large transactions to senior management and/or credit committees for approval.
