POSITION SUMMARY:
TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing, Inc. (TFI) is a wholly owned subsidiary of TIAA-CREF. TFI acts as program manager for CA, CT, GA, KY, MI, MN, MS, OK, OR, and WI.
Currently, TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing Inc. (TFI) is seeking a results-oriented Senior Relationship Manager and Program Manager to serve TFI’s largest account, the ScholarShare 529 Plan, administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board of the State of California Treasurer's Office, and work with business partners at a strategic level to drive both program growth and reduce contract risk.
This position is responsible for client level business planning, program development, reporting, operational and regulatory support. This individual engages the client on initiatives which anticipate industry trends and align to TFI’s goals. This role is also responsible for helping to promote informational meetings/discussions about investment strategy and investment performance.
The successful candidate will have both a strong understanding of the State's current goals and requirements and TFI business goals. Other responsibilities include preparing and presenting briefings for the Program's Board, contract management, increasing flows, and client satisfaction. Future management of other TFI programs is a possibility based on performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Provides strategic leadership for TFI’s enterprise account that is recognized by the client, internal business partners
• Assures that the ScholarShare program is on the leading edge of TFI’s total offer as measured by product features and industry positioning
• Responsible for ScholarShare P/L and revenue results
• Serves as TFI’s lead on CA-based business initiatives and TFI’s lead with State Government Relations
• Management responsibility for state-based Field Consulting Team Manager and Field Consulting team
• Member of TFI’s ScholarShare management team working with Marketing and Field Consulting
• Identify, develop and grow relationships with key personnel constituencies important to program growth. Utilize and maintain strong relationships across the TIAA business complex
• Demonstrates understanding and development of the Program's sales cycle and regulatory constraints and requirements
• Demonstrates solid presentation skills
• Development of industry knowledge and understanding of competitive landscape, and application of that knowledge in formulating strategy
• Participation on corporate wide initiatives
• Functions as manager of the regulatory principal for a team of registered and licensed representatives on the Field Consulting team

QUALIFICATIONS:
• BA/BS – MBA preferred
• FINRA securities licenses (or be prepared to take exams). Series 7 or 6, 63 & 24 or 26
• 7+ years of financial services industry experience with institutional client relationship management or consultative sales experience
• Demonstrated experience managing key relationships with large institutional clients
• Prior management experience
• Sound knowledge of financial product/services. Familiarity with the features/ benefits of 529 plans
• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
• Ideally located in Northern California (Sacramento or San Francisco Bay Area)
