Department Overview
The Macro sales division is primarily (though not solely) the team that distributes Macro product into the institutional client base.
Macro distribution is responsible for the distribution of Macro product (primarily Rates and FX) to the institutional client base of Barclays Investment Bank.
Main Function of the Job
• The role will focus on distribution of Barclays’ EM Macro Product to domestic institutional investors. The goal is to deliver the resources of Barclays’ EM trading and Research offering to the investor base, increase mindshare and market share with clients, and drive the business forward.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Establish client coverage relationships with key domestic real money and hedge fund EM investors. Execute trades across EM Local Markets Rates & EM FX products.
• Deliver the resources of Barclays to client base; increase market penetration and production in EM Macro product with the defined client base.
• Work with Macro management to set & implement the business strategy for growing the EM Macro business.
• Work with research partners to hone our research offering to meet our clients’ needs in an evolving regulatory landscape.
• Work with global partners in the EM Macro business to ensure a coordinated global approach and best practices within EM.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years of prior experience in a financial institution or firm
• 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with the EM Macro client base
• Familiarity with a returns-based culture (RWA, LBS analysis)
• Familiarity with technical drivers of Derivatives pricing and market structure (i.e. FVA, CSA-aware pricing, clearinghouse basis)
• A thorough understanding of the product set (EM Government Bonds, EM Rate Derivatives, EM FX).
• A thorough understanding of the client set (EM focused institutional asset managers, hedge funds)
• Ability to drive consensus across myriad functions (e.g. sales and trading).
• Good understanding of the research offering and its relevance to the client set.
• Ability to self-motivate with limited need for direction.
• Strong work ethic and, team-work ethic.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong ability to use judgement especially where that can systematically improve the client experience.
• Ability to incorporate the control framework effectively into the daily sales function
