Morgan Stanley Wealth Management provides a range of wealth management products and services for affluent individuals, businesses and institutions. These services include brokerage and investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, cash management, annuities and insurance, retirement and trusts.
The alternative investments product area within Investment Solutions is responsible for sourcing, manufacturing, developing, managing and marketing alternative investment products/investments, such as:
• Hedge Funds
• Funds of Hedge Funds
• Managed Futures
• Private Equity
• Private Credit
• Real Estate Funds
• Exchange Funds
• Real Assets
Alternative Investments has approximately $60 billion in assets under management. The primary users/investors include high net worth wealth management clients and their Advisors.
Position Summary
The employee will work on the Product Development and Strategy team within the alternative investment product area of Investment Solutions. The employee will primarily be responsible for onboarding and managing alternative investment offerings on the Specialized Investment platform, as well as work on pre-IPO private placement offerings sourced by Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities Group. In these capacities, the employee will work closely with MSWM Advisors, MSWM Field Management, as well as, the Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate, and Hedge Fund asset managers. In addition, the candidate will also work on various analytical projects across the Product Development and Strategy organization. This position will work cross-functionally with other areas of the Investment Solutions organization as well as other groups across MSWM (including Sales and Marketing, Global Investment Manager Analysis, Operations, Finance, etc.) The employee will work on tactical deal-related deliverables, as well as, some longer-term strategic projects.
Projects will include assisting with the development and support of investment product launches, including execution of placement agreements, presenting to various product committees, and presenting at the alternatives weekly sales meeting. The employee will also be expected to continue to improve and develop relevant metrics and statistics that will help the management team understand the health of the business and identify new opportunities.
Qualifications
• 5 plus years of financial services industry experience, preferably product development/management or related function
Skills/Abilities
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; detail oriented
• Ability to manage and complete multiple and simultaneous projects with tight deadlines
• Ability to understand, implement, monitor and improve upon key financial and business metrics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong presentation skills; ability to work effectively in senior management settings
• Must be a team player, with the ability to work independently
• Ability to represent the firm professionally with internal and external constituents
• Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint programs
