Credit Risk Management protects the firm from exposure to losses resulting from defaults by our lending and trading counterparties.
Background on the Position
Morgan Stanley Credit Risk Management is recruiting an Executive Director for the Credit Policy, Governance, and Regulatory Relations group. This group oversees the development of Credit policies and procedures and manages Credit related regulatory exams and internal audits. Its key functions are to establish Credit policy and governance standards and to spearhead remediation projects related to regulatory and audit findings. The group works in close collaboration with subject matter experts in Credit Coverage, Capital, Ratings Analytics, and Reporting, as well as other departments within the Firm.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Credit Risk Management, knowledge of risk and finance issues related to trading and lending activities, and familiarity with Fed, OCC and SEC regulations. This position offers opportunities to gain exposure to all aspects of Credit risk and to senior risk managers.
Primary Responsibilities
-Develop and update Credit policies and procedures, taking into account current regulatory expectations and Firm practices
-Initiate and execute various projects related to Credit policy, governance, and regulatory guidance
-Coordinate Credit deliverables and presentation materials for regulatory exams and requests
-Analyze key upcoming regulatory guidance to assess level of compliance with current practice
-Assist in the Firm’s communication with regulators regarding Credit related issues
-Oversee senior management reports on regulatory exams, internal audits, and credit reviews
Qualifications
Skills required (essential)
-Minimum 6 years of experience in Credit Risk at a large, complex financial institution
-Superior analytical thinking and problem solving skills
-Proven leadership abilities and relationship building skills
-Excellent writing skills
-Ability to work effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines
-Knowledge of financial services industry regulatory guidance
-Experience interacting with large bank/securities regulators (e.g. FRB, OCC, SEC, PRA, FINRA, CFTC)
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
