Risk Management protects the firm from exposure to losses resulting from defaults by our lending and trading counterparties.
Background on the Position
Morgan Stanley Risk Management Department is seeking a strong VP candidate for the Strategic Infrastructure and Data team based in New York. The Senior Business Analyst will initially be required to support the project manager with the strategic implementation of the CCAR Risk Identification project, by working with stakeholders across Risk, Finance and IT to documenting requirements and see them through the project lifecycle to successful delivery.
In the broader context, the group also has a wide remit of Data Authority related projects planned to enhance and support the way data is managed across Firm Risk Management (FRM). The Senior Business analyst will be responsible for leading all analysis related to these data projects, building a deep understanding of data related issues across risk and helping end users to articulate and document their strategic requirements.
To be successful, candidates will need to demonstrate strong business analyst experience and a proven track record in large scale change programs, preferably with some relevant experience in risk or finance functions and/or data architecture projects. Understanding of the current regulatory landscape, a strong desire to learn, and the ability to work on a multidisciplinary team will all be helpful. In addition, the candidate should have a working knowledge of financials products and risk management responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
-Provide business analysis and project management support for the CCAR Risk Identification Automation project
-Liaise with IT teams to Co-ordinate all aspects of testing, including planning, execution and close out of UAT phases with end users
-Build strong relationships with Risk stakeholders to better understand requirements
-Collaborate with various groups across Risk, Finance and IT to drive documentation of current state, future state and strategic requirements across various data authority projects
-Perform detailed data analysis on large and/or complex data sets to map out flows and identify root causes of issues to enable discussion with relevant data owners
-Produce clear, concise documentation and presentations for senior management to effectively communicate complex data issues in an easily understandable format
Qualifications
Skills required
-Significant experience in a business analyst role working in large scale, cross functional projects with demonstrable skills in data analysis, business process mapping, data modelling, requirements writing, test planning and execution are essential
-Above average communication skills are required specifically, the ability to convey complex messages in an easily understandable way and translate business requirements into functional specifications with IT.
-Working knowledge of Risk practices, procedures and current regulatory requirements
-Strong initiative and confidence to lead large workshops with all levels of stakeholders
-Proactive, highly organized, with close attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload
Skills desired
-Advance working knowledge of MS Excel, Powerpoint, Vision and Project
-Previous experience in finance and/or risk management
-Prior experience in Data modelling, Management and Architecture projects would be advantageous
