PGIM is looking for a senior asset management researcher to help lead the creation of PGIM’s “megatrend” thought leadership series, targeted at CIOs and other institutional investors around the world, and broadly disseminated in the media and investment management conferences. This role will report to PGIM’s Chief Operating Officer who also oversees PGIM’s Strategy, Marketing and Institutional Advisory & Solutions functions. As part of a dedicated two-member research team, working closely with researchers across all the PGIM businesses, you will be responsible for the full process of ideating, researching, interviewing, drafting and publishing thematic whitepapers. This includes brainstorming future ideas; aligning with PGIM senior leadership on the forward-looking research program; conducting interviews with internal and external experts to understand major secular trends and their investment implications; potentially partnering with third party research and policy institutions; and crafting whitepapers that lay out the “best of” PGIM’s thinking on broad, thematic investment topics. The right person for this position will be articulate, investment-savvy, a highly structured communicator of big ideas; intellectually curious, data-driven, analytical, agile – with a proven ability to own and deliver high-profile, high-quality research projects on time.
What you will be doing:
•Brainstorming secular themes with investment implications that will be the basis for ~2 major megatrend papers annually
•Partnering with PGIM researchers across the different PGIM businesses to prioritize and design PGIM’s thematic research agenda, focusing on topics where PGIM has unique insight and multiple interesting perspectives
•Laying out a structured timeline that takes the research from an “idea” to an end report, similar to the megatrend report series accessible on pgim.com
•In partnership with other team members, leading interviews of PGIM’s researchers and portfolio managers, as well as 3rd party experts at research universities, think tanks, and government organizations, to identify key themes shaping the broader economy as well as the investment implications of megatrends
•Partnering with PGIM’s senior leadership, in particular the PGIM Marketing and Communications organization, to generate compelling, differentiated thought leadership and insights for sophisticated investors based on the research (e.g., top 3 contrarian views, resulting agenda for CIOs)
•Promoting PGIM’s thought leadership efforts at internal conferences and presentations
•Mentoring a dedicated researcher who will be a partner in all steps of the research process, particularly in terms of the investment implications of broader thematic trends
•Analyzing data, conducting primary and secondary research and potentially partnering with 3rd party institutions to conduct the core research required for PGIM’s thought leadership
•Writing the initial drafts of new white papers and partnering with the institutional writers on the PGIM Marketing team who will finalize the document and make it ready for production
