As a Director, Associate Portfolio Strategist for consultant relations you will have the opportunity to represent the investment team’s strategies to current and prospective consultants and other intermediaries while serving as a resident expert on our investment process and risk management capabilities. In this role you will also directly support Symphony’s Global Distribution & Investor Relations Group through the creation of investment content that will be used in client and consultant communications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Working within a team comprised of Client Service and Product Specialists, and senior level Portfolio Strategists, communicate portfolio performance, positioning and investment outlook primarily to institutional investment consultants as well as other US institutional investors through in-person meetings, video and conference calls
• Work closely with the Investment team to ensure intimate knowledge on specific holdings, the investment process and trade rational – acting as a proxy for Portfolio Managers in all sales and client service capacities
• Regularly attend Portfolio Strategist and Investment team meetings to ensure a thorough understanding of current macroeconomic, industry and sector outlooks
• Discuss performance attribution, portfolio analysis and outlook for credit and equity markets
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of the alternative investments landscape
• Serve as a product specialist supporting Nuveen distribution teams; includes overseeing RFP responses, creating product materials and acting as a liaison regarding Symphony’s sales, service and products to Nuveen distribution teams
• Represent Symphony and its investment approaches in a variety of forums including client and consultant update meetings, onsite due diligence meetings, final presentations, etc.
• Working closely with the Head of Global Distribution & Investor Relations, support prospect pipeline and formulate new and existing client business strategies
• Maintain an awareness of asset management peers (firms, strategies, performance, etc.)
• Position existing products and aid in the development of new strategies desired or needed by institutional investors
• Some domestic travel required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or CFA preferred
• Seven or more years of experience in portfolio management, portfolio construction, consultant relations and/or client service with an intuitional investment management company
• FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses strongly preferred (must be obtained upon hire)
• Experience in high yield fixed income and corporate credit strategies preferred
Desired
• Must have a strong understanding of issues related to asset allocation and portfolio construction as related to institutional investment pools the investments spanning public and private capital markets
• Knowledge of capital and credit markets and equity securities
• Understanding of fundamental credit and equity analytical techniques and risk management
