Description
Segment Risk is a group within National Business Risk that covers Wealth Management’s specialized business units. In particular, Segment Risk is responsible for both supporting strategic risk initiatives and projects, as well as covering the day-to-day field risk issues for the following segments (as well as certain others):
• Private Wealth Management (PWM)
• Family Office Resources (FOR)
• Wealth Strategies Group (WSG)
• International Wealth Management (IWM)
The position will report to the Head of Segment Risk and will support PWM and FOR primarily. In particular, there is a Senior PWM team that works out of the 1585 NY PWM Office which offers specialized Family Office services to several Ultra-UHNW clients, and this position will be tailored to create and implement risk controls around those services. For example, the role will focus on implementing controls on (a) specialized bill pay procedures and (b) advice on client assets custodied away from Morgan for which specialized due diligence and advice review protocols are required. In addition, from time to time, the position may be called on to provide ad hoc additional support as needed to the above Segments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide day-to-day field risk coverage for the New York PWM branch office
supporting their family office services
• Implement control environment for specialized bill-pay processing services
(entitlement reviews, payment reconciliations, control environment
assessment)
• Assist with supervision of the oversight of assets held by clients away from
Morgan Stanley on which due diligence must be performed
• Develop, implement and maintain periodic risk reports tailored to the
specialized family office platform (metrics/analysis on assets held away, bill
pay processes and associated control effectiveness)
• Review and collaborate on the development and enhancement of policies,
procedures and controls tailored to the specialized family office platform
• Assist with ad-hoc requests from senior management to ensure timely and
accurate responses
• Provide additional support to the Segment Risk team as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 5 years of industry experience, preferably in
wealth management or private banking
• Prior experience working in a compliance, legal or risk management function
• Commitment to Firm and client guardianship
• Strong collaboration skills across both the corporate and field structures
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
