Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Life Insurance Division (LID) Asset Liability Management (ALM) team is responsible for managing and monitoring financial risks within the division. Two broad key functions of the group include managing financial risk and monitoring and communicating financial risk. The team is responsible for overseeing cap and credit rate management, hedging, asset/liability portfolio management and reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assisting with the design and development of ALM Risk Reporting. This includes working on the quarterly Risk Management Report, creating/updating ALM dashboards, and financial reporting.
• Calculating and analyzing risk associated with fixed products, including interest rate risk, liquidity risk, credit risk, insurance risk, etc.
• Participating in analysis of risk metrics and risk mitigation solutions for both assets and liabilities.
• Participating in ALM risk management processes surrounding hedging, setting credit and cap rates and dividend scale.
• Improving the efficiency and controls on processes associated with these tasks.
FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:
• 3+ Society of Actuaries exams completed
• 1-3 years of actuarial experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrated knowledge of actuarial modeling software (MG-ALFA preferred; GGY Axis, Prophet, MoSes, and/or other experience also valid)
• Exposure to fundamental programming concepts in one of the following languages: VBA, C++, C#, Python, R, or SQL (Work experience preferred; Classroom experience may also be valid)
• Basic understanding of financial concepts related to life insurance
• Can summarize multiple pieces of information and various numbers into a clear and concise narrative
• Manages time well with ability to make progress on multiple tasks concurrently
• Capable of collaborating effectively with colleagues on cross-functional projects and initiatives
