This role is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of an effective procurement and vendor management program MUFG in the U.S. Ensures that procurement strategy supports corporate strategy and aligns to all relevant external regulations. This roll will include senior level involvement in establishing a global procurement function (currently in definition phase).
Major Responsibilities:
Business and Technical Knowledge
• Knowledge of commonly accepted procurement and sourcing strategies and techniques.
• Knowledge of the regulatory environment impacting vendor management, sourcing, and procurement.
Development / Implementation of Risk Management
• Oversee the design, development, implementation of a procurement strategy for the US lines of business that enable MUFG to achieve the overall corporate strategy.
• Design and implement an effective vendor management / vendor compliance program that aligns with all relevant regulatory rules, laws, policies, and procedures.
• Implement key performance indicators (KPI) to measure effectiveness of procurement and sourcing program, modify programs as necessary based upon KPI outcomes.
• Consistently review MUFG’s existing sourcing and procurement operations, identify and implement process improvements.
• Collaborate with business unit leaders to understand sourcing and procurement needs. Ensure that the appropriate infrastructure is in place to support business unit procurement and sourcing needs.
• On an ongoing basis review supplier contracts and agreements to ensure the bank is receiving appropriate levels of service.
• Monitor and or lead review of bid packages, proposals, selection of suppliers, and contract negotiations of major vendor contracts
• Establish process, polices, and governance for business unit sourcing. Ensure that business lines are aware on how to effectively source and select vendors.
• Review groups of vendors and identify the best possible opportunities for the bank.
• Additional coverage areas include Insurance and Accounts Payable.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
Experience:
• Minimum of 15 to 20 years’ experience in procurement, vendor management, strategic sourcing or equivalent experience; including demonstrated oversight of a procurement, vendor management, and strategic sourcing team.
• Experience managing a dispersed workforce (~160 employees mainly in Arizona, California and New Jersey)
• Evident success in developing and implementing procurement / sourcing strategies across multiple business lines.
• Strong analytical skills and problem solving capabilities.
• Proven track record in project management and coordination/integration efforts across multiple groups.
• Detail-oriented and well organized.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Strong work ethic, ability to make decisions, and work under tight deadlines.
• Professional certifications preferred.
• 25% travel required.
Internal / External Relationships:
• Collaborate with various business unit leaders to identify and meet procurement and sourcing needs.
• Manage relationship with IT partners to ensure appropriate system requirements are in place to support procurement and sourcing operations.
• Maintain relationship with corporate compliance to maximize alignment of procurement and sourcing program with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
