American Express is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the GBS LFO Finance organization. This LFO team provides financial analysis and decision support specifically for the functions within GBS, which include: Global Real Estate & Workplace Enablement (GREWE), Enterprise Strategy & Execution (ES&E), Global Servicing Learning Network (GSLN), Global Supply Management (GSM), Sales & Business Enablement (SABE), and GBS Strategy (GBS HQ).
Key responsibilities:
Finance support for GREWE investment projects
• Develop strategic financial analyses for major Global Real Estate projects such as new leases, new developments, relocations, renewals, expansions, contractions, etc.
• Work closely with regional GREWE teams to document project scope/assumptions and develop P&L / DCF analyses to help identify advantages/disadvantages, exit strategies, and recommendations
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure analyses conform to US GAAP and AXP investment guidelines
• Assist with preparation of presentation decks for AXP leadership and support the project approval process
• Support GREWE Finance team by aligning active strategies with GREWE annual and long range financial plans
FP&A / decision support for all GBS functions
• Assist in providing senior management with relevant and timely results, outlook, and trend analysis at GBS enterprise and function-specific levels
• Play a key role in month end close, regular financial reviews, business unit reviews, and planning activities to enable GBS functions to deliver against aggressive targets
• Provide proactive, value-added decision support to business partners by assessing financial trends and project related financials to identify R&Os and potential funding opportunities / gaps
• Collaborate with other finance teams including GBS HQ Finance, Business Planning, and Corporate Planning to ensure holistic success of the overall finance organization
Qualifications
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in financial / business planning
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field – Master’s / MBA is a plus
• A self-motivated team player who can develop relationships with global stakeholders at all levels of the organization
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask while meeting tight deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into meaningful insights for an executive audience and consistently deliver high quality service
• Comfortable with change, ambiguity, and maintaining composure under pressure
• Strong financial modeling/analytical skills (Advanced Excel & PowerPoint a must; proficiency with TM1, Essbase preferred)
• Basic understanding of commercial real estate life cycle and related financial principles preferred
