Description
An exciting and challenging opportunity as Vice President, Financial Reporting, is available within the Individual Annuities Finance Team in Newark, NJ. This critical leadership role works closely with senior business leaders and is charged with leading the controllership, financial reporting and control activities for the Individual Annuities Business. This position oversees the reporting and analysis of quarterly and annual results on both a GAAP and Stat basis and will lead other activities including Accounting Policy and support of strategic initiatives. The individual will have significant exposure to many senior leaders and other teams across the enterprise.
The individual will be leading a staff of accounting and finance professionals and responsibilities will include:
• Overseeing and reviewing financial statements for the Annuities segment and presenting results and analysis to senior management and outside counterparties.
• Analyzing key business earnings drivers, including insurance results, investment results and expense drivers.
• Supporting the implementation of strategic business initiatives including new product development and reinsurance strategies
• Support key business priorities including the evolution of our risk management strategy, mitigating GAAP volatility and supporting new accounting guidelines.
• Working closely with Finance Shared Services (FSS) teams to coordinate close process and sign-off on the financial statements, along with respective legal entities.
• Providing support and analysis for PFI and subsidiary SEC reporting (10K/10Q/MD&A).
• Managing relationships with corporate centers and other internal parties, including Corporate Controllers, Actuarial, FSS, Risk Management, internal and external auditors, Treasurers and Asset & Liability Management.
• Human resource management including staff recruiting and development, training and succession planning.
• Support of Finance Forward initiative including active participation in Controllers Community of Practice.
Qualifications
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work across teams and collaborate with others to drive strategy and execution.
• Strong GAAP and Statutory reporting experience in the insurance industry including a thorough knowledge of insurance industry GAAP and Statutory accounting policies and concepts.
• Superior analytical skills with the ability to identify interrelationships among components of financial information to understand and document key drivers of earnings and significant financial trends.
• Strong understanding of insurance-related actuarial concepts.
• Degree in Accounting or related field.
CPA designation with public accounting experience is preferredVP, Financial Reporting
