Opportunity Overview
• Responsible for effectively and accurately processing routine and non-routine activities/transactions by drawing on multiple information sources and understanding multiple effects of a transaction. Activities may not follow a pre-determined path, rather will require discretion and use of judgment. Functions may include, but are not limited to: verifying documents for completeness, adjustments to customer and/or firm accounts, performing calculations relating to exceptions and corrections, and be able to effectively communicate with Financial Advisors, internal headquarter associates and vendors.
• Requires understanding of the brokerage industry and in-depth knowledge of area systems, processes and procedures including those of related departments and divisions.
• Serve as subject matter expert to others, both within and outside of the area. Share knowledge, ideas and solutions. Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and leverage resources to implement.
• Handle escalated issues requiring in depth research, communication with other areas of the firm and/or outside contact and work directly with the branch on resolution.
Problem Solving:
• Must be able to work independently to identify and initiate viable resolution of non-routine problems in a timely manner.
• Must demonstrate ability to use available resources and processes to determine appropriate course of action.
• Must demonstrate the ablity to evaluate current processes to determine opportunities for enhancements and efficiencies.
• Collaborate with other teams and departments to determine best solution when necessary.
Decision Making:
• Decisions are relatively complex and non-routine. The associate must pull from past experience and knowledge of processes and systems to make sound decisions.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work with a moderate degree of autonomy. Ability to evaluate risk and use appropriate judgement in decision making when handling exceptions.
• May handle escalations. Those more complex in nature should be reviewed with subject matter expert or leader.
• Risk is moderate to high as some decisions may have monetary impact to the client or the firm and/or be governed by regulatory guidelines and rules.
Span of Influence:
• Scope of position involves performing specific core job function, working in collaboration with leaders and associates in related departments to resolve issues and communication with the branches and outside firms.
• The span of influence is moderate to high as the work performed and the service provided by these associates can impact clients, financial advisors, and internal processes.
• May provide feedback to team members and serve as mentor/coach to less skilled associates, but will not have formal leadership responsibility.
Position Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree is preferred.
• 1+ years relevant experience in an operations/processing position in the brokerage, banking or financial services industries is strongly preferred. .
• Previous experience with Microsoft Office tools and spreadsheets is required.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to apply procedures and guidelines consistently is required. Must have ability to make proper judgement calls based on analysis of available information.
