POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the Merchant in the preparation of a global omni-channel assortment for AEO and its brand to meets the competitive and commercial needs of all International markets.
Support daily operational functions to successfully affect the department’s business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in building the seasonal roadmap in collaboration with the head Merchant, the International Buying team, and US/Direct Merchandising and Design.
• Understand seasonal market hindsight and weekly business recaps from the Buying team for your respective categories to influence the global roadmap.
• Seek out key item opportunities to grow the business through competitive research and analysis of the categories of business within which assigned.
• Identify business trends by market with the support of the Buying team and call out said opportunities to the lead Merchant and DMM for the global roadmap.
• Ensure International requests are accurately communicated on all roadmap documents and are kept up to date throughout the season.
• Establish an in depth product understanding by category which includes but is not limited to seasonal strategy, fabric, silhouette description including technical specifics if applicable, retail price and lifespan
• Maintain records of all International exclusive programs through photos, roadmap, SVL, etc. and see them through the product life cycle.
• Manage the preparation of all support materials for the product presentations which includes: line sheets, laydown documents, and color palettes.
• Manage all deliverables as it relates to our systems (Tradestone and GBS) in conjunction with the production and MOS teams.
• Pass style information for quote entry to MOS for all International exclusive items.
• Ensure accuracy of the Global Buy Sheet including product attributions in preparation for buys during coordination and thereafter as new styles are added.
• Daily/Weekly communication of assortment changes within the season which includes: chase additions, drops, chase category product detail (C&S knits, “Don’t Ask Why”, graphics).
• Input and ensure accuracy of all product attributes to allow for accurate data analysis, seasonal recapping, and pre-season planning.
• Maintain organized sample closet with the support of the Visual Assistant to ensure we have representation of all merchandise in-season.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or equivalent.
• 2+ years previous experience in retail merchandising.
• Ability to strategize and strong skills in financial analysis.
• Aggressive and passionate individual will be most successful in this and future roles.
• Proficiency in use of MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
• Manual labor required (i.e. Carrying boxes of Merchandise, Organizing samples, Dressing bustforms).
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
