Kontoor - Senior Director, Investor Relations (Greensboro, NC)

This position reports to the Vice President, Investor and Corporate Relations and works closely with the Kontoor Brands Chief Financial Officer, the Executive Leadership Team and others working in corporate functions and the company’s brands.
Background
In August 2018, VF Corporation (NYSE:VFC), a global leader in branded lifestyle apparel, footwear and accessories, announced its intent to separate the company into two independent, publicly traded companies: VF Corporation, a global apparel and footwear powerhouse, and recently named Kontoor Brands, Inc.,which will hold VF’s Jeans and Outlet businesses.
The separation is expected to be completed in the first half of 2019, subject to final approval by VF’s Board of Directors, customary regulatory approvals, and tax and legal considerations.
Kontoor Brands, Inc. will own and operate the Wrangler®, Lee® and Rock & Republic® brands and be a global leader of apparel, workwear and related accessory products. The company, and its 17,000 employees in 65 countries, will be focused on the design, manufacturing, sourcing, marketing, and distribution of high-quality, innovative apparel products for a diverse set of customers and consumers around the world. With a strong commitment to corporate and social responsibility, Kontoor Brands’ products will be sold through its owned and operated retail stores and e-commerce sites. The company’s brands will also be sold through wholesale channels, including major department stores, and other retailers.
Senior Director, Investor Relations:
Become the Newest Member of Kontoor Brands
The Senior Director, Investor Relations at Kontoor Brands, Inc. will partner with leaders in the company to develop Investor Relations (IR) and related communication strategies and tactics to help create and deliver shareholder value, which will be measured in part by Kontoor Brand’s ability to deliver top-quartile Total Shareholder Return (TSR), a key metric of the company’s success.
The role will be responsible for creating, maintaining and communicating a compelling and credible investment thesis for Kontoor Brands, while also regularly sharing the company’s business strategy and financial performance with the investment community via multiple forms of communication, in a way that is always consistent with the disclosure rules and guidelines of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the NYSE.
The Senior Director, Investor Relations will be the primary contact person for all IR-related stakeholders, including but not limited to: shareholders, prospective shareholders, and sell- and buy-side analysts. In this role the Senior Director, Investor Relations will establish and maintain strong relationships with current and potential shareholders and financial analysts that cover Kontoor Brands and other publicly traded companies in the apparel and footwear peer group.
Responsibilities
Serve as a day-to-day communications contact for the investment community.
Define and refine key IR and related company messages and consistently incorporate those messages across multiple forms of communication.
Communicate IR and company core messages to the investment community in the form of thoughtful press releases, investor presentations and conversations, scripts and website content.
Develop and maintain detailed knowledge and understanding of the global markets served by the brands owned by Kontoor Brands.
Establish and sustain good relationships with current and potential investors and current and potential sell-side analysts.
Specifically, identify and proactively meet with preferred/targeted potential investors.
Ensure that Kontoor Brands key messages are well researched, documented and communicated in an appropriate and consistent way.
Be a knowledgeable and trusted resource to the investment community, while always adhering to the strictest interpretations of rules that govern public company disclosure.
Lead the quarterly earnings communication process, including script and slide drafting and Q&A development.
Prepare Kontoor and brand management teams for all communications with the investment community.
Partner with the Kontoor Brands communication team to optimize both internal and external communication and coordinate communication plans.
Oversee, in a timely way, the company’s IR website.
Maintain and frequently update a report of Kontoor Brands consensus earnings estimates.
Manage the company’s Investor Relations calendar, including quarterly results announcements, conference participation and ad hoc investor meetings.
Serve as a member of Kontoor Brands’ Disclosure Committee.
Lead investor targeting, tracking and reporting.
Organize investor meetings and prepare presentations, including for Investor Day meetings and the Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
Lead the development and production of Kontoor Brands’ annual report, including the CEO’s Letter to Shareholders.
Assist in preparation of certain materials for the Kontoor Brands Board meetings.
Prepare competitive IR intelligence, including work to define, gather, analyze and distribute updates about key competitors and customers (financial results, product initiatives, key strategies) and the overall industry/sector.
Help develop and write external communications including regulatory filings and other materials such as Investor Day materials, investor kits, fact sheets and website content.
Coordinate and lead activities, in coordination with the CEO and CFO, associated with non-deal roadshows, investor conference participation and investor/company events.
Closely collaborate with the Legal and Finance departments to ensure proper and timely disclosure of corporate news, ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.
Work with the Finance, Corporate Communications, Sustainable Business and other teams to communicate information about operating results, key initiatives, messaging and relevant ways to keep key audiences well informed – including employees, financial media, non-governmental organizations, labor groups, etc.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Accounting, Finance or related area of study – a master’s degree in any one of these disciplines is a plus.
Minimum seven years of investor relations leadership experience with a public company.
Must be able to communicate Kontoor Brands’ value propositions and that of the company’s brands to a variety of constituents, while having the ability to answer detailed questions.
Strong leadership skills.
Self-confidence: Must be respectfully confident and be able to maintain composure during challenging situations.
Ability to deal effectively with change and ambiguous situations.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision: Must be self-motivated.
Ability to travel as needed to investor conferences and non-deal roadshows.
Investor Relations experience within the apparel sector is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A high level of organization and thorough attention to detail, including the skills of editing and proofreading.
The ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
Ability to analyze industry and economic data.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required; Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters skills are a plus.
Ability to work extended hours in preparation of quarterly financial communications, annual report preparation and capital markets activities.
