Overview
The Senior Designer High Jewelry is the lead designer for high/complex profile projects and/or new collections. S/he is responsible for working as part of a collaborative creative team designing, while managing his/her own projects, tasks, and timelines.
Responsibilities
The Senior Designer will be responsible for design, research and presentation. This individual will act as design lead for projects. S/he will understand, anticipate and develop line extensions as required. S/he will sketch, build and update jewelry and product designs in 2D and 3D as assigned by management. S/he will provide research and development idea inspirations to Design Director and Chief Artistic Officer based on their directives and anticipated needs of the business. S/he will ensure studio is updated with project images for walls. S/he will demonstrate and apply knowledge of style concepts in jewelry, product, fashion, and art as they relate to Tiffany design.
This individual will be responsible for project management, leadership and operations. S/he will manage design process from concept development to design hand off to meet the critical deadlines as established by the corporate timeline. This individual will partner across categories to support and ensure cohesive design in brand vision. S/he will evaluate and communicate independent non-biased feedback of strengths and weaknesses of design concepts to senior management team. S/he will manage all aspects of design deliverables to achieve timeline goals. In addition, this individual will proactively manage and maintain accurate usage of design systems and numbers project. S/he will create and implement plans to achieve results. Identify opportunities for improvement and creation of efficiencies within area of responsibility and overall department.
S/he will communicate and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure design vision is production viable, technically functional and produced to achieve aesthetic direction of the collection. S/he will proactively set up and encourage communication amongst design team to ensure alignment and cohesive execution. S/he will manage and maintain the archiving, organization and communication of electronic design documents. S/he will demonstrate and foster support for the goals of the department and company.
Qualifications
• Completed degree in Jewelry, Metals, Industrial Design or Fine Arts and/or 8+ years of industry experience (jewelry design preferred).
• Strong proficiency in Rhino, rendering software, Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign strongly preferred.
• Concept sketching and hand rendering preferred (Advanced hand rendering critical for statement).
• Knowledge of jewelry manufacturing and techniques.
• Excellent organization skills, self-starting, multi-task oriented and able to set and meet deadlines.
• Must be able to adapt and manage changes in design direction and project timeframes.
• General knowledge and interest in competitive retail market, trends, brand identity and client base.
• Able to communicate and collaborate respectfully across departments.
• Demonstrated openness to feedback, active participation in design critique sessions and ability to implement revisions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with 3D printing.
• Able and flexible to design silver fashion items through couture designs and gifts.
