We are currently seeking a Coordinator of Public Relations for our corporate office in New York City. The Coordinator of Public Relations is responsible for supporting the tactical and strategic Public Relations plans implemented by the Communications team. This position will support the Public Relations department members in communicating Barneys New York’s brand messages, press releases to all media, retail trade, internal business, celebrity, and lifestyle. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Public Relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Support the communication programs that meet the needs of the business and are consistent with the company’s global communication strategy focused on merchant’s key vendor list.
• Facilitate the recap process to include tracking and reporting to senior level executives on effectiveness of media efforts.
• Create and maintain media lists as well as the contact database for all priority markets.
• Facilitate sample pulls as requested with flagship stores and external PR agency.
• Coordinate filming and photoshoot opportunities at flagship stores and serve as an on-site contact as needed.
• Support the PR team in garnering key editorial placements by cultivating relationships with key market editors, online magazines, newspapers and weekly print.
• Assist the Senior Manager with managing budgets and processing invoices.

• Solid knowledge base of all media types
• Existing relationships with media contacts
• Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
• Global and strategic thinking abilities
• Demonstrated ability to establish priorities in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Power Point, Publisher, Excel, Cision and Fashion GPS
• Ability to proactively prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously within time constrains and with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work extended hours and travel to all store locations as necessary
• Proven business communication and writing skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with co-workers and business contacts in a professional manner
• BA/BS degree
• 1-2 years of experience in Public Relations or Communications
