SUMMARY
The Sr. Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for leading the Quality Assurance Department for VF Workwear. This individual is responsible for ensuring VF Workwear has a holistic quality management system which ultimately delivers brand appropriate quality into the marketplace for all VF Workwear brands (apparel and footwear). This holistic quality management system encompasses raw material input into cut and sew operations, pre-production checks, ensuring successful field audits and process controls in manufacturing and sourcing, final production audits, lab operations, auditor training and education, communication/collaboration with the extended supply chain, collaboration with commercial partners, and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead, develop and mentor the VF Workwear Quality Assurance organization.
• Design, create and lead the implementation of VF Workwear QA policies and procedures and the documentation to support the Business needs, expectations and specifications.
• Give direction and guidance to create a “passion for conformance of product to standard” in the Quality Assurance staff.
• Ensure that Quality Assurance remains consistent, objective and supportive of the specifications and business needs of VF Workwear.
• When issues arise, work collaboratively, and employ a DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, and control) corrective and preventive resolution process.
• Ensure professional working relationships are maintained with Suppliers, WD associates and Affiliates.
• Lead/facilitate Quality Alliance meetings between suppliers and VF Workwear brands.
• Plan and allocate the appropriate resources to support the needs of the business.
• Organize, equip and employ training for the product supply organization annually on our requirements, ensuring VF brand level critical to quality knowledge is known and maintained.
• Provide a collaborative environment for open and transparent discussions with all business partners on quality opportunities. Build, support and maintain strong working relations with cross-functional departments.
• Ensure that brand level specifications (defect matrices) are appropriate in collaboration with the applicable Merchandising and Design departments.
• Provide either direct or alternative LAB services for VF Workwear.
• Participate in strategic planning as required for VF Workwear.
• Provide for an annual budget, supporting documentation, etc.
• Employ lean methodologies and techniques such as workload analysis to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase speed to market. Operate with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Design/create and lead appropriate quality improvement initiatives in our distribution centers to improve our “out of box” experience for end consumers and “on shelf” presentation at retail.
• Implement a center of excellence (COE) and community of practice (COP) for VF Workwear encompassing all product categories.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• College degree (B.S/B.A./M.A./M.S.) or equivalent.
• Manufacturing, Textile, Quality background is required.
• 10+ years quality related experience in the apparel industry.
• Proven leadership and people management capabilities with cross-functional organizational effectiveness.
• Experience and demonstrated success with implementing quality systems and process improvements utilizing lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques.
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
• American Society for Quality certification or other preferred.
• Effective communication skills (English written, verbal and presentations).
• Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills (specifically Excel, Power Point, Word, Visio and Access).
