Director, Finance, Clinique
Description
Work with the Finance Vice-President for Global Finance & Strategy to identify opportunities to accelerate profitable growth in Clinique. Provide business partnering support for the SVP for Global Marketing and the SVP for Omni-channels and develop analysis, systems and processes to support fact-based decision-making.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Focus on identifying growth and profit opportunities for Clinique in-year and in the LRP. Develop deep-dive analytics to optimize all revenue and cost lines in the P&L.
• Lead Launch ROI toolkit implementation for all Clinique Program Briefs by developing full P&Ls for key launches, establishing the business rhythm of meetings and processes amongst key players, developing working calendars to support NPL gate meetings, and helping identify opportunities to optimize launch P&Ls.
• Evaluate performance of new product launches, advertising, marketing and promotion effectiveness and ‘net extra’ generation as committed in the Launch ROI.
• Analyze sell-through trends, monitor and learn from cannibalization and halo impacts to improve the accuracy of forecasts resulting in more effective and efficient resource allocation and reduced inventory and obsolescence levels.
• Support identification of profitable growth opportunities by viewing the global brand business from all strategic perspectives: innovation vs. commercial activities, global vs. regional heroes, core vs. emerging regions, and diversification to high-growth, brand-building channels.
• Develop deep-dive analytics and identify internal & external best-in-class benchmarks to achieve optimization on every P&L line:
◦ SRP to Net – develop recommendations on regionally differentiated reductions on bonification and other trade terms; identify ways to minimize sales returns.
◦ Propose ways to reduce non-productive SMAP and to reallocate spend to higher ROI investments.
◦ Develop best practices on Collateral and Sampling Effectiveness to benefit Clinique and the broader Cluster
• Customize subcategory business models (e.g. Moisturizers, Foundation, Lips) to allocate spend to effectively drive Awareness, Trial and Loyalty, with investment level differentiated by subcategory requirements.
• Provide business partnership to SVP Omni-Channel to support OPEX and Capital investments in retail experiences; meet corporate hurdles and maximize ROI.
• Assist in developing comprehensive expense, inventory and working capital analysis, identifying areas of continuous cost improvement and efficiency.
• Monitor emerging market opportunities and develop profitable growth strategy for market acceleration.
• Be the POC for Clinique financial acumen development. Develop and update Finance learning materials and train all Clinique employees to develop financial acumen and discharge their financial responsibilities effectively.
• Gain strong working knowledge of corporate systems (e.g., SAP, CPM, HANA, Pricing Systems, PAT, Data Warehouse, NPD, Euromonitor and other enterprise systems) and leverage these tools for effective financial analytics.
• Handle special projects as required.
Qualifications
• Superior PowerPoint design proficiency and compelling communication & presentation skills.
• Knowledge & experience of risks & opportunities in emerging vs. developed markets
• M.B.A. Degree or equivalent experience
• 6-8 years’ experience in finance, strategy and general business in consumer goods.
• Strong financial and analytical skills; highly organized.
• Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to work with data efficiently and effectively.
• Must demonstrate strong project management, process and organization skills in order to manage tight deadlines and multiple deliverables.
• Hands-on approach required
• SAP, Hyperion and Business Analytics /Data Warehouse system experience a plus
• Management and Development of direct staff (1-2 people)
