JOB SUMMARY
We’re looking for an inspirational, high-energy and results driven leader who can lead, focus and engage a large, growing field organization to consistently deliver growth and results through premium customer and store experience. This leader plays an equal role in being a fierce advocate for the customer and store teams in headquarters to ensure everything we do enables the field to shine in front of our customer.
You thrive on growth and delivering results. You have an appetite for innovation, deep knowledge of store operations and a proven record of leading and developing geographically dispersed teams. You are critical member of the brand Senior Leadership team and lead a matrixed field leadership team including Store Operations, Visual Merchandising, Inventory Management, Marketing/Community, Store Finance, and Human Resources. Athleta is in high-growth mode; you know how to galvanize a highly talented team and support them through the inevitable highs and lows of a very dynamic business. ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP
• Leads a high performing team to drive the retail business.
• Key member of the Athleta Brand Core Executive Leadership Team responsible for shaping and shifting brand strategies and long range plans.
• Key member of Gap Inc. Store 3.0 leveraged platform representing Athleta’s brand priorities and growth imperatives
• Build and cultivates relationships broadly across the brand and enterprise to influence store strategy, mobilize resources to drive business, meet customers’ needs, drive operational excellence, and meet ambitions sales & growth goals.
• Shapes and drives culture as a competitive advantage
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ownership and full accountability for the P&L for stores.
2. Sets and defines multiyear strategy for stores retail channel.
3. Participates in key decisions as both a member of the brand executive leadership team and Gap Inc. to ensure stores best practices are in place.
4. Ensures stores experience is constantly evolving to meet our customer’s needs and biggest business opportunities aligned with brand priorities.
5. Identify industry trends and develop innovative strategies to support growth
6. Effectively partner with marketing on driving market relevant customer acquisition strategies and store execution of branded events and community outreach in key markets.
7. Develops talent and creates actionable succession plans to support growth and development.
8. Ensure product stories and big ideas are translated into an engaging customer experience with a focus on credible storytelling, product knowledge and love of sport and activity.
9. Predict and capitalize on business opportunities and risks in-season through utilizing sales performance and marketplace information.
10. Leads, directs, and develops the Stores and Store Operations team composed of multiple functions with matrixed support partners - Field Visual, HR, Finance, Real Estate and Loss Prevention.
KEY EXPERIENCES
• Retail Leadership: 10+ years background with an understanding of how to drive results in retail. Prior experience successfully leading store operations. Innovative and premium service environments a plus.
• Business Drivers Leadership: Highly developed understanding of retail business drivers impacting top and bottom line, as well at the ability to understand omni-channel business model complexities. Proven track record of leading business strategy and driving P&L results.
• Community Activation/Customer Acquisition: prior experience partnering with marketing to develop national and market specific strategies to drive customer acquisition (pop up shops, small format, community events.)
• Innovation Cultivator: identify trends and develop innovative strategies that transforms retail operations
• Personal Leadership: Demonstrated executive presence, presentation, decisiveness to influence all levels cross-functionally in a matrix environment where speed is crucial.
• Purpose: Leads with deep connection to purpose and values. Understands the emotional and engagement drivers that come with purpose based leadership.
• Change Leadership: Experience leading through significant change & transformation to move an organization forward in a financially responsible way.
