SET THE COURSE
To create a line of apparel that is attractive to the Tommy Bahama customer and to work with a team of designers and other staff to ensure the quality of the products is world-class.
BE THE ISLAND GUIDE
• Develops segments of the Tommy Bahama line each season (color, styling, fabric selection).
• Researches trends in fashion and determines desires for Tommy Bahama customer.
• Develops computer coloration and fabrication.
• Develops sketches for garment styling.
• Develops construction specifications.
• Develops graded specifications for new styles.
• Orders samples, or approves order samples from Design Assistants.
• Checks samples with Design Assistant or Production Assistants for adherence to specs, color, fit, fabric and construction.
• Approves final samples.
• Works with team of designers and design assistants to ensure cohesive line and best quality product available.
• Works on development fittings.
• Embroidery and graphic layouts.
• Monitors assistant designer workflow.
ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE
• Degree in Fashion Design.
• Generally, 5-7 years of experience in Women’s Design (casual sportswear background preferred).
• Previous experience with woven’s (pants, shorts, skirts and dresses)
• Sophisticated taste level.
• Computer graphics experience with knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience with the apparel design process from concept to product.
• Ability to follow through on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong time management skills.
• Understanding of Tommy Bahama customers. Ability to creatively design for this market.
• Organization skills. Ability to work under tight timelines while managing multiple priorities.
