Image Retoucher/ Production Artist
Reports to: Retouching and Production Manager
Location: LIC Office
The Retoucher/ Production Artistworks within a team that handles all of the creative imagery, digital assets and in-store collateral for the Madewell brand. The Retoucher/ Production Artist will work closely with the graphic design, merchandising and PR teams to ensure all images are retouched and all digital assets are properly prepared and distributed to the necessary branches of the business.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Maintaining production of a high volume of images under very tight deadlines, partnering with the shoot production and merchandising teams,
• Utilizing appropriate digital asset management techniques (from receiving studio images up to when the site goes live)
• Taking creative direction and applying it to images in order to achieve the best possible results for final web images, and communicating with other teams in order to proactively address discrepancies and resolve issues.
• Communication and the ability to take direction as well as work proactively with team members are equally important as the aforementioned technical requirements.
• Being team player that can handle a high volume of image retouching.
• Delivery of files will include internal/external FTP, and internal delivery sites
• Garment wrinkle removal, skin and beauty retouching, compositing of multiple images, masking and path creation
• Data entry and file management
Preferred Qualifications
• BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job.
• 2-3 years experience of retouching in a high volume, deadline-driven production environment, fashion industry experience preferred
• Strong Photoshop skills
• In-depth knowledge of retouching clothing, product refinement, and silhouetting as well as ability to control color/contrast for the web
• Ability to work very quickly without sacrificing overall image quality
• Ability to work well with others, communicate with internal and external teams in a courteous and professional manner
• Time management, organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at once
• Ability to make color corrections and color changes
• Expertise on fabric textures and patterns
• Experience with Excel
