The Sr. Director of Design for Women’s Knits & Sweaters for Specialty leads their team to design, and develop brand-right product that translates into optimized commercial product delivered to the customers. They ensure product aesthetic, product quality, and costs are consistent with Brand image and target customers while maintaining financial performance of Design. The scope of responsibility in this role is over multiple categories.
Responsibilities
• Defines and protects brand aesthetic; and translates trends through customer lens and brand filter.
• Translates trends into commercially successful categories by using the brand filter, and by researching potential new product categories.
• Ensures product aesthetic and costs are consistent with brand image and target customers;
• Fosters strong network of collaborative, cross-functional, relationships.
• Attracts, leads, inspires Design and Creative talent to create compelling, brand-enhancing product.
• Advocates and inspires great ideas, injects ideas into the product development process.
• Manages multiple seasons at a time using deep understanding of the Product to Market process.
• Holds team accountable for meeting development deadlines and ratios.
• Participates in development trips in partnership with CFTs and GIS to ensure vision and intent is executed successfully in product development process.
Qualifications
• Apparel Design- deep experience in apparel design and product development with commercial viability.
• Financial Acumen- proven ability to impact financial outcomes.
• Experimentation- experience successfully implementing brand filters and trend funnel.
• Innovation- great eye for color, understands possibilities of fabric/construction, has delivered new innovative ways to use color, fabric, details in design with while hitting our AUC targets.
• Team Leadership- experience building, managing and inspiring large cross category, cross division, cross functional Design/Creative teams.
• Personal Leadership- demonstrated executive presence, presentation, influencing, collaboration across a senior leadership team in a variety of settings.
• Change Leadership- experience leading through significant change & transformation to move an organization forward.
• Collaboration- proven ability influencing and making decisions cross-functionally in a matrix environment where speed is crucial.
• Talent Builder- proven track record of assessing, attracting, developing best-in-industry leaders/teams.
