Job Description: Director, Online Strategy, Estee Lauder Companies Online
ELC Online is the E/M-Commerce and Digital Innovation division of the Estée Lauder Companies Inc., a family of globally-recognized prestige beauty brands. ELC Online has a significant global presence via hundreds of Brand.com, retailer.com, and digital and social media platforms across the world. ELC Online is dedicated to providing an enhanced shopping experience by placing the consumer at the center of the retail journey, allowing them to connect with Brands in a personalized way that exceeds their needs, standards and expectations, enabled in part through Omnichannel retailing.
The Director of Online Strategy will lead annual development of the Global Online strategy, while also owning the execution of key projects that align with the division’s strategic priorities. The Director will also lead content development for key senior leadership meetings. The Director will maintain an authoritative knowledge of E/M-Commerce best practices / trends and leverage this deep understanding to provide valuable insights to guide key initiatives.
The Director will manage an Associate, and will report into the VP, Global Omnichannel & Online Strategy.
Responsibilities:
•Lead content development of the annual update of ELC Online’s 3-year strategy, working cross-functionally with key stakeholders to identify and align on strategic priorities, and create presentation materials for the annual strategy meeting with ELC senior management. Responsible for cascading the strategy to the global ELC Online organization
•Develop themes and content for regular business review meetings with ELC senior management and other presentation materials on behalf of the President of ELC Online. Partner closely with key Online Brand, Region and Functional leads to gather relevant business information and ensure alignment
•Serve as business lead for the execution of key projects and launches that support Online business goals. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Identifying and validating opportunities based on consumer needs, competitive research and benchmarking, etc.
•Developing and presenting business cases
•Communicating and selling in ideas to Brands, Regions, and Functions as necessary
•Working in close partnership with cross-functional stakeholders including Brands, Production, UX Design, Finance, etc.
•Managing relationships with external vendors where necessary
•Defining and measuring KPIs, and calculating ROI
•Determining and managing rollout approach
•Manage an Associate and potentially additional junior team members
Qualifications:
•MBA preferred; BA / BS required
•7+ years’ work experience in E-Commerce and / or top-tier management consulting, with a preferred focus on online retail or consumer experience
•Very strong quantitative and analytical skills, including P&L development
•Very strong content development skills (e.g., Powerpoint, Keynote); ability to crystallize complex concepts into clear, salient points and to leverage creativity and storytelling in presenting ideas
•Ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously and to thrive in a project-based environment with multiple workstreams and stakeholders
•Excellent communicator, and ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, to understand incentives, and ensure alignment in a matrixed organization
•Strong attention to detail and results orientation; strong work ethic and persistence to drive an initiative to completion; a “roll up the sleeves” attitude towards tackling a challenge
