Category Director (Lens & Contact Lens)
Position:Full-Time

GENERAL FUNCTION
The Category Director is accountable to achieve P&L goals for lens and contact lenses through development and implementing sales, customer and profitability strategies as well as development and execution of the Insurance Strategy for the brands. Overall responsibility includes new product development, pricing and promotion initiatives, testing and analysis, program implementation and vendor management for the categories.
The Category Director partners with Finance, Marketing, Customer Insights, Eyecare, EyeMed and Operations to solve a broad range of business problems, perform analysis and synthesize information into actionable insights to drive category growth.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Achieve P&L goals by developing and implementing strategies to drive sales, improve margin and enhance the customer experience
• Leverage findings from multiple approaches including competitive benchmarking, customer research, market sizing, industry trend analysis, etc. to develop growth strategy for the category
• Develop and lead implementation of the 3 year plan initiatives related to the categories
• Lead vendor negotiations for co-op support and category growth plans
• Initiate and lead new product introductions in collaboration with key partners
• Determine optimal pricing and promotional strategy in store and online for lenses and contact lenses for the brands
• Define and implement contact lens and lens pricing and assortment, including in store inventory management of Contact Lenses
• Develop project plans, cross-functional business cases, test plans and launch plans
• Partner with Marketing team to determine role of lenses and contact lenses in overall Retail Licensed Brands’ marketing roadmap and to develop customer retention and acquisition tactics
• Partner with eComm team to support growing Contact Lens sales online
• Develop and lead operational initiatives in field and at store level, in collaboration functional leads
• Responsible for leading insurance initiative in partnership with key partners
• Responsible for lens and contact lens day-to-day issue resolution to ensure smooth operations, meet store needs, and deliver growth plan in terms of unit volume, mix and gross and net price
• Develop lens and contact lens training (product knowledge, offers, and selling behaviors) in collaboration with key partners
• Act as key liaison with RxO, sourcing and planning teams to ensure sufficient product supply and optimal service levels
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance or business related field
• 10+ years of experience in brand or product management and/or retail operations
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Strong financial acumen- ability to scope and size opportunities
• Critical thinking, initiative and drive
• Ability to transform ideas into action in demanding environment
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Capable of communication with a diverse range of individuals and audience size
• Interest in working with technical product
• Excellent project management
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced dynamic environment. Ability to manage multiple agendas
• Excellent prioritization skills with a focus on results
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• MBA degree
• Experience working with field and stores (including in field and stores)
