As a Senior Manager with American Eagle Outfitters, you will play a leading role in the strategic direction of Global Transportation Operations by assisting the Senior Director in the development and deployment of new delivery solutions to accommodate American Eagle’s rapidly growing global business. You will be responsible for the performance and rating of our third party service providers and provide excellent customer service to your internal cross functional supply chain partners while providing mentorship and support to a team that orchestrates the flow of merchandise to our international franchise, license or joint venture partners. Your understanding of standard methodologies, risks, market conditions and expansive network of industry contacts will enable the business to deliver product in the most timely and cost effective manner.
Your responsibilities include:
• Inspiring superior performance through leadership, role modelling, building positive relationships and influencing others effectively; leading strategic development of partners and associates by evaluating strengths and positioning for success
• Leading the team that handles day to day operations of shipment planning, customs clearance, peak season planning, vendor compliance, overseas third party provider performance, free trade agreements, and contract negotiations ensuring all requirements and capacity needs are in line with contractual obligations
• Motivating and developing your team to reach maximum potential through daily mentoring, frequent coaching, feedback and opportunities for growth
• Communicating and collaborating with our overseas vendors, service providers, Licensee Partners, Production, Merchant, and Planning Teams to understand needs to establish positive, productive relationships
• Benchmarking services and procedures with other like companies to ensure competitiveness and best-in-class operations; building continuous improvement initiatives for greater efficiency, cost-savings and to drive growth
• Participating in the procurement process of global transportation providers through business opportunity analysis, requests-for-proposals, rate and service contract negotiation, negotiation of legal terms and conditions, and ongoing management of vendor relationships
• Optimizing third party service provider performance by reviewing, communicating, carrying out, and improving critical metrics through external report cards
• Partnering with third-party providers on planning initiatives including pricing, space allocation, systems integrations, effective routings, and standard methodologies
• Coordinating overall operations of International Transload Centers (ITC) by handling cargo flow, onboarding new Licensee Partners into the ITC program, and driving performance through critical metric management
• Leading and running the Corporate Business Continuity Plan for the Global Transportation department
• Partnering with Domestic Teams (US, Canada, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, Europe) to ensure smooth transition of cargo into local markets
• Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics, or related field; Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
• 10+ years’ experience in supply chain management, extensive experience working with global 3PL providers
• Certified in Supply Chain Management (CSCM) or LEAN/Six Sigma preferred
• US Customs and vendor compliance experience required, understanding of international customs laws preferred
• Proven ability leading cost performance, supply/demand forecasting and successful third party negotiations
• Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred
• High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications; highly organized, efficient, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to influence peers and senior management
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, social, problem-solving, & planning skills
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Ambitious and driven; motivated by a dynamic environment
• Domestic and international travel required
