Job Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements
The Learning Experience Designer will help accelerate, disrupt, and scale the global Learning Experience (LX) at Deckers, building content that enhances employee and organizational capability in alignment with strategic priorities . This position will leverage new learning technologies and methodologies to create digital content and experiences, enabling “just enough”, “just-in-time” and “just-for-me” delivery. The LX design tool box will include an array of digital learning methodologies and technologies to design blended experiences, including peer-learning, microlearning, videos, job aids, webinars, podcasts, online courses, gamification, etc. Ultimately, this role will design creative, scalable and repeatable content and programs that empower employees to develop their skills, confidence, and careers at Deckers and beyond.
Learning Experience & Talent Management
• Partner with Talent Management and Organizational Effectiveness to understand, identify and prioritize learning needs across the business
• Identify data sources that enable targeted learning initiatives and the ability to measure learning experience impact; Develop a solid understanding of learner profiles and roles to ensure learning solutions are tailored and effective
• Foster partnerships with key SME’s across business to amplify knowledge centers and empower employees with access to relevant learning content
Content Creation & Design
• Manage the end-to-end design and development of learning content, from initial concept through final implementation –keeping the end-user/learner at the forefront to ensure exceptional LX
• Champion and support the practice of peer-learning, including process, content capture, and employee education, to promote knowledge sharing and retain critical knowledge; Experiment with new content formats and learning models to foster highest levels of employee engagement and development
• Create learning solutions that satisfy the needs of a diverse set of learners, across multiple geographies and generations; Content formats may include microlearning, peer-generated learning, webinars, interactive modules, quick reference guides, job aids, videos, online courses, communities of practice, etc.
• Partner with SMEs to conceptualize and outline content, scripts, story boards, and produce digital and/or in-person learning experiences; scope and advise on required level of time, resources, budget, etc.
• Leverage rapid course development techniques to produce, test, and iterate on content and enable fast delivery
• Work with global PX (People Experience) partners to appropriately tailor work for the optimal ‘glocal’ experience, understanding regional variances and translation needs
• Keep abreast of industry trends and apply continuous innovation to update, upgrade, and build leading edge learning experiences
• Advise when engagement of 3rd party learning partners is appropriate based on project requirements
Content Curation & Management
• Transform traditional learning programs and existing content into blended formats; Update and enhance learning content as needed
• Catalogue and categorize learning content for easy use and adoption by employees
• Guide and monitor content selection, curation, and shelf-life
• Determine the best modality for delivering learning topics based on learning group profiles
• Monitor training content effectiveness and develop measures to demonstrate training value and impact over time
• Partner with Communications team in the development of engaging and brand-right marketing for learning initiatives
LMS (Learning Management System) Support
• Enable and empower employee learning communities in our LMS, and other types of peer-to-peer learning experiences
• Optimize the use of the LMS and other learning technologies that will enable knowledge sharing efforts to scale
• Continuously monitor LMS user experience and learning effectiveness; Partner with HRIS team and vendor to recommend improvements as needed to maximize system value
• Stay curious and learn new technologies and UX/LX best practices
Governance
• Develop and communicate guidelines and standards for content development
• Drive best practices and standardization/branding across learning initiatives
• Measure efforts against learning KPIs, both quantitative and qualitative, to evaluate effectiveness of learning content
• Manage learning administration for instructor-led programs
• Adhere to budget and ensure timely processing of invoices and related expenses
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; degree or coursework in instructional design, UX design, learning science, instructional design, etc. preferred
• 4+ years demonstrated experience designing and developing learning content, training materials, experiences, digital/e-learning programs, peer-learning, social-learning, instructor-led training, reference guides, and other digital learning experiences
• Strong UX design capability with focus on delivery across multiple channels, utilizing a variety of learning methodologies
• Proficiency with SCORM, online learning technology, and various tools including Articulate, Captivate, or similar programs
• Proficiency working with audio and visual editing tools, including Adobe Premier, After Effects, Photoshop, SnagIt, Camtasia, Audacity, Final Cut, Illustrator, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing scripts, developing story boards and content
• Collaborative business partner, with ability to successfully build relationships with SMEs across functions
• Workday Learning experience preferred; LMS experience required
• Project and program management capability and experience adhering to timelines and budgets
• Resourceful, creative, and intellectually curious
• Nimble working style; comfort and ability to navigate new and ambiguous situations
