Product Manager - Trim (RTW)

Responsibilities
as trim manager you will support the raw materials team to oversee product development and production for all trims inclusive of hardware, zippers, buttons and soft trims for kate spade apparel. The ideal candidate partners with internal and external partners to successfully drive the development and approval of trims through concept to production. This position reports to the Director of Raw Materials.
Responsibilities
• Work with the Director of Raw Materials to source and develop all trims.
• Set up and manage trim development/production calendar to ensure all calendar deadlines are met.
• Research and develop new trims that adhere closely to seasonal design direction
• Build and maintain a trim library to have wide range of references for design/development
• Negotiate prices and lead times for both sample and bulk trims
• Ensure all items approved to production meet Kate Spade quality and testing standards
• Work closely with product development team to resolve potential issues prior to production
• Responsible for setting up all trims in Centric PLM system
• Create and maintain trim tracking chart based on projections and estimated yields
• Issue sample trim PO and track on shipment to garment makers
• Review and approve bulk trims before shipments
• Manage all inventory from development through production, and utilize the inventories efficiently to save production cost
• Plan and manage an overall trim strategy for the brand – supplier selections, cost analysis, trends, etc
• maintain very positive and professional relationships with vendors and internal partners in an effective manner
Qualifications
• college degree required
• minimum 5 years experience in materials sourcing with strong focus in trims and hardware
• Understanding of garment manufacturing process
• Understanding of trim costs, leadtime, minimums and impact on garment cost
• Attention to detail with strong follow through
• Project management and communication skills
• strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
• initiative/sense of urgency; demonstrated problem solving skills
• proficient in windows-based software such as excel and word
• Willingness to take on projects of various levels
• PLM software knowledge a plus
