Title
Associate Product Development & Production Manager- Bags, Belts and Leather Apparel
Overview
To drive the day to day product development and production requirements within accessories and leather apparel. Developing unique, on trend and aesthetically beautiful product at competitive prices. Provide excellent admin and interpersonal skills when communicating with internal and external partners. Accurate data entry of purchase orders, detailing product development packs to vendors and coordinating both sample trackers and T&A charts will be core to the role.
Responsibilities
Product Development + Sourcing
• Drive internal calendars to ensure product is developed in line with product deadlines.
• Working with cross functional teams to communicate and trouble shoot development and production issues.
• Setting up and sketching styles for development (where required).
• Constantly reviewing vendor base knowing strengths and weaknesses and troubleshooting issues. Ensuring we have the right vendor mix to deliver compelling product and developing new partnerships as required.
• Understand technical requirements and ways to delivery product in line with the brand aesthetics
• Pulling together trend information for quarterly brainstorm meetings.
• Constantly seeking new solutions to product assortment and internal processes to continually push the growth of the department.
• Research new materials and surface treatments around trend and new technology for projects and new concepts as required.
Sealing + Technical Specifications
• Create development and technical design packs as needed in line with the development calendar.
• Own product revisions and the sealing process communicating all changes and details to the vendor.
• Carrying out pre-production risk assessment and ensuring all company testing requirements are completed prior to goods shipping.
• Ensure packaging and branding are clearly communicated to the vendor.
• Understanding points of measure, grading, construction methods and flat sketching.
Costing + Cost Engineering
• Manage vendor cost breakdowns for all styles. Organize and communicate costings ensuring IMU goals are protected.
• Work with vendors on cost efficient ways to produce product speaking to programs and batching materials when required.
Sample + Production Trackers
• Owning the T&A process to ensure critical sample and production dates are been followed and troubleshooting issues throughout. Anticipate any challenges and at-risk delivery.
• Manage PO changes after discussions with cross functional partners.
• Enter Purchase orders.
• Keeping up to date sample trackers and managing the development processes ensuring critical dates for meetings, reviews and photoshoot deadlines are met.
Leadership
• Responsible for management of production coordinator, providing motivation and training while delivering constructive feedback and monitoring performance.
• Perform manager duties for entire category including all production management.
Qualifications
• 7 + years of progressive experience in product development, sourcing and production positions.
• Extensive Knowledge of Global Manufacturing
• Technical knowledge of raw material development, sourcing and product construction
• Strong organizational and communication skills necessary to orchestrate the efforts of others in order to achieve the desired end result
• Problem solving and troubleshooting skills that allow for a proactive approach to the business
• Ability to manage and direct others effectively
• Ability to visit a buying office or factory and access whether or not the facility has the necessary infrastructure and is capable of handling the Company's development and production needs
Travel
Some Travel Required.
Education
BA/BS in Fashion Merchandising or related field.
