POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Create and develop unique prints and patterns that are brand appropriate while being modern and trend right that will elevate the WHBM and set it apart from the other brands.
Stay abreast of all seasonal fashion trends and print trends to achieve style appropriate prints.
Execute and drive one of the development phases of all prints and elements to establish a look for all seasons. Drive the Calendar and all associated processes and procedures for the CAD Department, coordinating and managing department workload to execute the calendar
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for print and pattern development on CAD system which includes working from original art, vintage art, creating art and color combinations related to seasonal color palette and direction.
• Delegate art projects and development to a team of artists conforming to a strict and fast paced calendar.
• Motivate, train, and develop a CAD team that will execute product needs while maintaining a T&A calendar.
• Prioritize workload - reorganizing on a daily basis due to business needs
• Drive artwork development; build, direct, and execute one of the CAD development phases of the artwork development in the continued evolution and development of the structure, calendar, and processes to anticipate and support the changing demands of the business.
• Drive process of one of the development phases and all associated procedures for the CAD Department, coordinating and managing department workload to execute the calendar. Manages integration of CAD processes and procedures within internal design team, cross functional teams (Merchant, Technical Design, and Visual) and external vendor partners. Adjusts and updates as dictated by business needs.
• Maintain ownership of one of the CAD development phases: Concept Stage or Execution Phase.
• Concept Stage:
◦ Collaborate with Trend and Concept in trend research, and to put together seasonal mood boards and concepts.
◦ Drive CAD team's trend research and put together seasonal and monthly Print Mood Boards and concepts.
◦ Responsible for creating and managing print and pattern development at Concept Stage that includes; identifying key print directions; focusing on balance between black & white and fashion color print direction; setting up a clear direction on the balance of elements and balance of scale.
◦ Assume responsibility for color coordination / seasonal collaboration of color for upcoming seasons.
• Execution phase:
◦ Partner with Design, Directors, Merchants, Production team and Executive leadership to receive artwork direction, follows up on current artwork, and provide creative and technical suggestions on all artwork packages/development.
◦ Coordinate and manage workload as it relates to driving the T&A. Communicate on a daily basis with Senior Artist, Manager, Director, Designers, key Merchants and key Production team members as it relates to the T&A and the design and execution of the product.
◦ Oversees art projects development, reviews and preparation for final approval.
◦ Communicate with vendors to ensure mutual updated understanding of repeat specifications, color limitations and printing techniques. Mentors CAD team in understanding vendor capabilities in order to complete project requests
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors degree in Art or Fashion Design
• 6+ years of experience in retail print and pattern CAD design, preferred
• Excellent taste level and color sense suitable for designers like Dolce & Gabanna, Michael Kors, Robert Cavalli, Donna Karan, etc.
• Love for creating print and pattern that defines a brand
• Complete knowledge of bulk production requirements and restrictions
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Highly proficient on Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator programs, and literate in Microsoft Office, NedGraphics, preferred
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, creative problem solver
• Management and leadership skills
