GENERAL FUNCTION The Regional Director of EyeCare (RDE) delivers to the brand’s doctor strategy through leadership of employed doctors, supporting the success of the doctor and retail business. The RDE is responsible for the right staffing, including the recruiting, and selection of each doctor. The RDE owns onboarding the doctor to appropriately orient to the brand & store. The RDE is also responsible for the ongoing assessment of performance, and the continuous development of the doctor, and motivation to ensure retention. The RDE provides oversight to supporting office staff, who work collaboratively with store management to deliver superior quality of care, patient experience, OD and associate engagement, and business results in all locations.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops & delivers planned office sales and exam plans.
• Coaches & develops ODs and Office Staff on building sales and increasing exams & NPS.
• Ensures all patients’ needs are met by setting clear expectations regarding prescribing from the chair, transitioning & conversion to and from LC when eye wear is recommended.
• Ensures MODs and AODs are trained on benefits of various lens options.
• Where installed, ensures effective utilization of Clarifye to optimize the patient experience.
• Tracks results, analyzes trends & specific impact of action plans in opportunity offices.
• Uses co-planning meetings to ensure ODs & SMM's develop collaborative action plans to improve quality of care, patient experience & business results.
• Recruits and selects/maintains a pool of candidates for new/vacant locations.
• Orients new & existing ODs taking new locations. Closely monitors internals through succession planning.
• Maximizes doctor coverage opportunities to drive business, ensuring the right ODs are scheduled at the right times.
• Implements OD-based analysis & action plans to improve NPS; coaches OD behaviors that support NPS improvement efforts.
• Identifies & leads problem-solving & action-oriented communication about significant optometric issues affecting ODs.
• Supports development of new, value-added OD and technician training programs/tools.
• Implements policies & guidelines as set forth by LC.
• Supports testing & evaluating new eye care products, technology & procedures for products & services provided through technicians.
• Coordinates ophthalmic vendor contacts with employed & sublease ODs for various optometric activities.
• As requested by EyeMed management, encourages active participation as provider for group directed programs & ensures compliance with EyeMed provider standards.
• Monitors guidelines for Medicare & insurance coding & billing related to eye exams & related covered services to optimize revenue in compliance with the law & guidelines.
• Maintains clinical competency in diagnosis & treatment of ocular pathology & co-management of disease as allowed by state law.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Doctor of Optometry
• 10+ years of experience
• Proven track record of results
• OD mentoring experience
• Demonstrated leadership/management skills
• Knowledge of current Optometric technology & practices
• Strong problem solving & critical thinking skills
• Organization & time management skills
• Knowledge of sound business management practices
