The purpose of this position is to create innovative, commercially viable assortments that deliver value and style for the assigned consumer segment and distribution channel. Brings creative vision to life that inspires regional markets.
Responsibilities include:
• Leads seasonal platforms and concepts as critical global team lead, identifies consumer relevant product opportunities based on global market research and local team input
• Leads ideation of the growth strategy for the categories that contribute to the overall Women’s Bottoms Business plan
• Stays informed about the customer trends and what is selling both globally and locally and alters category strategies accordingly.
• Gains complete understanding of the competition and their pricing strategies for multiple markets
• Partners with design on seasonal point of view and commercialization for optimal profitability
• Leads to all aspects of merchandising related aspects of the product development activities for the category, manages the product creation process, the seasonal calendar, to meet assortment plan
• Evaluates and brings forth an assortment that fulfills business needs.
• Leads development of a fit portfolio that will deliver upon our position within the brand portfolio and expand our authority with our consumers
• Leads execution of the seasonal line release activities
• Leads developing quick response products for the category based on consumer or business needs
• Very strong communication skills – includes presentation, influencing and negotiation skills
• Consistently identifies opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency
• May manage one or more level merchants from concept through development
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7 years merchandising experience, including 2-3 years as a merchant
• Thorough business understanding along with a passion to create commercial assortments that will grow business and enhance the brand
• Ability to build and develop a merchandising team, and sustain effective partnerships with Design, Product Development and Regional merchandising to ensure products are engineered to profit and quality/aesthetic goals
• Strong understanding and appreciation for merchandising and product development processes, including the ability to influence and work across different disciplines and product categories
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team or direct reports to achieve the goals of a common vision
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation and public speaking expertise
• Recognized as an expert in merchandising skills.
• Computer literacy/fluency with merchandising related applications
Education / Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (7+ years of work experience)
• Minimum 6 years direct merchandising experience working at an apparel manufacturer or marketer
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word & Excel)
