Position Summary
Manage every step of the process of bringing Visual Merchandising collateral to market – including sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, purchasing, development, managing the timeline of the market and the suppliers, and ensure timely delivery of a ready-for-market product that is in line with market needs, budget, and brand image. This role requires the regular and customary exercise of independent judgment and discretion. This role also requires that a majority (i.e. more than 50% of each workweek) on negotiation, purchasing, planning, inventory management, advising management, representing the company, and researching business opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Define, manage, and execute project plans
• Research, locate, and select suppliers for projects
• Sourcing and purchasing for all projects within the category
• Define, request, and analyze supplier spec and cost options
• Negotiate costs with suppliers
• Manage communications (verbal or written), both internally and externally, for effective project management and coordination for new products and in-line product. Serve as central management and leader of the project for outside suppliers
• Determine and manage timelines, and coordinate delivery updates between markets and planners
• Manage the pre-production and production sample timing and comments with internal departments and suppliers
• Analyze project agreement and risk factors and report and make recommendations at the “Project Handoff” meetings
• Monthly review of New Projects with Internal Departments
• Create and manage the Critical Path in Sopheon
• All other duties as assigned
Requirements
• BA/BS degree in science or business
• 2 to 3 years of experience in purchasing, project management, and/or manufacturing
• Experience in managing multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Strong proficiency with MS office (i.e. Excel, Outlook & Word) and MS Dynamics (AXAPTA)
• APICS or CPM, Planning Certification preferred
• Project Management Certification preferred
• Ability to prioritize work and multi-task with multiple projects to meet deadlines while delivering excellent results.
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with team members and contract manufacturers (domestic and international).
• Critical thinking/problem solving – ability to identify issues, make recommendations, and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
• Ability to work independently and be proactive in problem solving
