Sr. Designer, Karl Lagerfeld Men's Outerwear
Overview
GIII Apparel Group is a leading manufacturer and distributor of apparel and accessories under licensed brands, owned brands and private label brands with an entrepreneurial culture that flows throughout the comprehensive portfolio of over 30 licensed and proprietary brands, including Andrew Marc, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld, Levi's, Dockers, Jessica Simpson, Vince Camuto, Ellen Tracy, Kensie, Ivanka Trump, and G.H. GIII also has licenses with the four major professional sports leagues, as well as over 100 U.S. colleges and universities. In addition, G-III currently designs, manufactures and markets an extensive range of apparel, including outerwear, dresses, sportswear, beachwear, women's suits and women's performance wear, as well as luggage and women's handbags, small leather goods and various accessories.
GIII Apparel Group is currently seeking a Senior Designer to join it's Karl Lagerfeld Outerwear team based in New York City!
Responsibilities
Development
• Research current trends and forecast evolution on said trends within our brand identity
• Apply findings from research (including blog, magazine, store, street-style, vintage exploration) to a seasonally relevant, cohesive collection that is well balanced in fabrication and thoroughly merchandised
• Communicate seasonal concept/design intent to factories - request preliminary treatments + mock-ups
• Attend vendor meetings and work on product concepts with Trim Team - follow trim full cycle to production
Sample Phase
• Generate tech-packs with clear silhouette, garment construction, and trim information to overseas factories
• Evaluate collection standing and sketch + refabricate to support seasonal objectives within line plan/SKU count
• Exaggerate visual cues to reinforce concept + transcribe amplified garments to runway program with stylist
• Support Collection to Production
Support Collection to Production
• Follow garment to production with Production Managers – ensuring correct development + color allocation applied to each body for costing.
• Field Merchandising Requests
• Responsible for approving lab dips and bulk approval as well as trims
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum 8 Years industry experience (including retail, wholesale, pattern drafting + draping, print design.)
• Outerwear experience preferred
• Proficiency in Illustrator & Photoshop applications
• Patternmaking, Draping & Sewing experience a must
