Project Manager - Retail Back Office
SET THE COURSE
This position is responsible for the project management of retail back office IT business systems projects. This role will lead efforts on CRM, AOM and Merchandising applications. Responsibilities include full project life cycle management of initiatives (initiation through close out). A strong understanding of systems planning, design and application software integration is required. This position will work closely with the Tommy Bahama business units and IT teams to successfully deliver projects in the IT Portfolio utilizing project management best practices.
BE THE ISLAND GUIDE
• Working with IT, business and PMO leadership, the Project Manager will:
• Work directly with the IT, business and PMO leadership to lead projects including, but not limited to, planning, design and delivery
• Lead cross-team collaboration across key stakeholder groups / channels in support of key project deliverables
• Own the definition, documentation and prioritization of business requirements for new initiatives, working closely with users to ensure the project meets business needs. Create and maintain the project plan for the requirements, design and delivery phases
• Maintain project governance structure to support the project (IE: RACI Matrix and Project Team Org Chart/Roles Chart)
• Create and maintain a Confluence Workspace to house critical project documentation / reference material
• Facilitate the use of JIRA to support the project User Stories / Features as defined by the Business Requirements
• Partner with business stakeholder groups to define and document Business Requirements. Facilitate the creation of functionality, technical support and operational documentation for successful post-project transition to support team
• Regularly engage with the project team on project status, top issues, critical risks, and key decisions
• Drive decision-making processes to resolve blocking issues and maintain forward progress
• Own meeting agendas, schedules and outcomes
• Provide ongoing monitoring of the project budget
• Oversee the Change Control process for any changes / adjustments to overall project scope
• Manage the work of consultants, allocating and utilizing resources (both internal and external) during projects
• Successfully offload at project completion to end user groups and Support and Operations group
• Define, manage, and execute Project QA
• Define and manage the User Acceptance Testing
• Collaborate with partners/vendors to stay informed of new features/functionality that may benefit the business
• Identify and advocate for prospective initiatives/projects (e.g., Business cases, ROI)
• Develop strong expertise in the software and systems, and play a hands-on role in testing and release activities.
• Provide Tier II end-user support for core business applications as needed
• Identifying user training needs and planning and managing user training, including writing training documentation and executing train-the-trainer sessions
• Facilitate and execute a project retrospective
• May manage direct reports
ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE
• Bachelor's Degree in IS, Business, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in IT project management experience.
• PMP Certification is a plus.
• Strong project management skills and experience with project management tools like MS Project or equivalent.
• Experience in RFPs, business systems implementations, integrations and upgrades.
• Experience working as the technical project manager overseeing the work of technical resources (software vendors, developers, functional analysts and IT staff.)
• Experience in multiple business channel companies or the retail apparel industry a plus.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to multitask, prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced environment.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Ability to communicate information in both technical and user friendly language.
• Highly self-motivated and directed.
• Strong decision making and escalation skills.
• Must have ability to listen well and understand the needs of customers, staff, management and supporting departments.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of people who have different skill levels of technical competence.
• Must be able to facilitate effective meetings.
