The Category Manager for Nike Brand Activation, will be charged with a building profitable activation plan and executing a calendar that clearly defines the stories and timelines that we will ultimately invest in. This person will work cross functionally with Merchandising, Marketing and Go to Market Teams to define what is needed and how to assort key stories including a full style breakdown. Manage and own building the strategic creative brief to drive home business initiatives.
Essential Functions
• Responsible for how the Nike brand is represented in all areas of the business including events, digital and B2B meetings.
• Partner with the Digital Marketing to conduct product tests as well as online surveying to continue to drive product and story improvements.
• Redefine the Hot Market calendar and share ideas on how best to bring fresh, quick hit product to market.
• In partnership with Merchandising, challenge omni channel concepts and determine how best to leverage one point of design and a single inventory.
• Translate consumer insights in commercially viable and globally relevant stories.
• Strategically think through the master line and how it applies to the channel and consumer, factoring in how we get local and build a process to support that.
• Utilize and optimize the Merchant Planning Team to track, define, and analyze business opportunities; helping drive specific growth concepts like the women’s apparel business.
• Partner with the Sales team to strategize channel segmentation, and present products at various times during the year for assigned category (i.e. at buyer meetings)
• Help ensure there is product brand alignment between buying, product, marketing, and supply chain. Act as the key bridge and keep design team informed on key transactions.
• Ownership of sales and specific branded collateral concepts
• Owns sell-in decks brand strategy and leads core meetings including, but not limited to, brand, sales, and licensing meetings.
• Ownership of core brand touch points such as media, product gifts, packages etc.
• Enhance the digital experience: drive new online fit guide and digital storytelling.
• Build partnership with digital team to continue to test social media as a true channel of conversion.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Apparel, Merchandising, or comparable graduation from a textile school; commensurate work experience (9+ years) is acceptable without a degree
• At least 8 years of progressive experience specializing apparel in digital marketing, retail buying, or sales
• At least 3 years people management experience
• Strong understanding of the product creation process
• Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
• Business acumen and financial skills including a functional knowledge and ability to manage budgets
• Experience with Microsoft Applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Familiarity with product-project management software and/or processes
• Individual is able to network and gain trust with co-workers; interacting with multiple personalities and managing competing agendas
• Individual identifies and resolves problems in a creative, collaborative, and timely fashion
• Able to see the big picture and deliver decisions or ideas in a professional manner
• Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop high performing teams
• Knowledge and understanding of U.S. retail and digital consumer trends
• Ability to travel up to 40%
• Knowledge of and passion for sports a plus
