Job Purpose:
The Corporate Controller will be responsible for the corporate general accounting and operational accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer service, sales audit, payroll, internal audit and inventory accounting. The Controller is also responsible for internal and external reporting for month, quarter and year-end closes in line with US GAAP requirements. This position will also be responsible for the internal and external audit process ensuring appropriate SOX internal controls as well as working closely with the external auditors to complete the external year-end audit process. This person will provide thoughtful analysis and insight into business trends and work directly the Executive Financial team on Company performance, control reliance and company audits.
Duties:
Technical Accounting, Auditing & Reporting
• Monthly Financial Reporting internally and to banks in line with US GAAP as well as regular external bank reporting requirements
• Build reporting process to be public company ready to be able to produce accurate and timely financial statements for SEC level external filings (i.e. 10-K/10-Q) in accordance with GAAP accounting standards
• Ensure the monthly close delivers accurate financial results including comprehensive analysis of key expense and balance sheet items; be able to recommend actions steps and work with business partners to execute; review material journal entries
• The position will research and provide consultation on all new accounting pronouncements and relevant GAAP implications and how they strategically impact the company
• Work closely with external auditors to complete external audits efficiently and in a timely manner
• Assist in developing and maintaining adequate internal control processes sufficient for public company SOX compliance
• Review and analyze daily, monthly and quarterly reports to execute, recommend to, and work with cross functional teams to implement operational efficiencies;
• Assist in various special accounting projects throughout year
Operational Accounting Functions
• Manage the daily processing of payables to vendors. Ensure on-time payment using automated tools with best-in-class checks and balances to avoid errors
• Manage the daily collection process of receivables from wholesale customers using systems to ensure fastest possible collections by effective monitoring and reporting of collection KJPI’s. Managing the credit review process for new and existing wholesale customers and making appropriate recommendations. Managing the charge back function to minimize operational chargebacks from customers
• Manage payroll dept. ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, applying latest IRS rules and managing ADP service provider relationship
• Manage the accounting for all inventory of the company ensuring accurate reporting
• Manage the Sales audit function ensuring best-in-class reconciliation tools and processes to manage store receipts reconciliation.
Skills/Qualifications:
• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Accounting with minimum of 3 years of Public Accounting experience. CPA license preferred
• Additional 3-5 years of corporate controller or assistant controller management experience with responsibility for operational accounting functions like A/P, A/R, sales audit, inventory in addition to general accounting
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP technical accounting concepts and ability to understand and interpret accounting guidance
• Previous Retail/manufacturing/Consumer goods experience required
• Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and prioritize in a dynamic environment
• Must be highly detail oriented with strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain business
Proficient in General Ledger Systems, financial ERP systems, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
