The Director, Quality Assurance shall demonstrate an exceptional level of leadership to drive the Quality Assurance teams across internal manufacturing and to partner with other key stakeholders within the company. Her/his team will create and drive a quality assurance system with a vision to manufacture the product "right the first time". To achieve this it is essential to translate product specifications into objective and measurable requirements, to empower the craftspeople to control processes, and to use technology extensively. The Quality Assurance team will provide meaningfull analytics to manufacturing and process engineering to drive continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities
• Product quality: Ensures that quality standards are understood and aligned across facilities, team and department. Identify opportunities to improve quality assessment accuracy and objectivity. This includes training, communication and applying advanced technologies.
• Process execution optimization: Promote manufacturing repeatability and accuracy in the spirit of doing it right the first time and quality at the source; develop a solid and effective quality system including: process validation and audit, feedback to improve, SOP assessment and surveillance, continuous improvement efforts. Contribute to overall operation by increasing QA reliance on objective reliable and repeatable measures, and employing technology to help drive this effort, including efficiency.
• Lead, Mentor & Coach: Effectively manage staff to meet department expectations and goals; and identify and assess individual and group development opportunities. Cultivate talent by leading, mentoring and coaching team. Identify strengths and development opportunities to increase productivity and effectiveness utilizing PMP cycle supporting goal setting and regular feedback moments.
• Collaboration: Initiate and maintain cross department collaboration between the QA teams and different stakeholders/customers. Stakeholders include but not limited to: Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Jewelry Design and Innovation Workshop, Corporate Quality, Compliance, Product Development and Merchandizing.
• Reporting: Support the business through providing improvement driven metrics and analytics.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering or Technical discipline; 10+ years related experience
• Strong Leadership and people management capabilities with cross-functional organizational effectiveness
• Experience and demonstrated success with implementing quality systems and process improvements utilizing lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
• American Society for Quality certification or other
• Strong communication skills (English written, verbal and presentations)
• Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills (specifically Excel, Power Point, Word, Visio and Access)
Preferred
• Advanced degree in a Technical or Business discipline
• Experience in Jewelry manufacturing
