GENERAL FUNCTION
The VP, Industry Relations & Education strategizes with the SVP, Optical Sales in building strong relationships with key influencers in conveying the Luxottica vision and mission in the Optical industry, while also soliciting feedback from these stakeholders on how to continue to support their needs in the market. By nurturing the relationship with these key players, the incumbent will be educating them on best practices in the industry.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategizes with the SVP on where it makes sense for Luxottica to build presence at influential industry events, social networking events, trainings, presentations, and other key meetings to enable Luxottica to continue to be relevant and build awareness in the industry.
• Accompanies the SVP at key customer/alliance stakeholder meetings.
• Fosters strong relationships with Optical Associations (i.e. AOA), Schools of Optometry (i.e. SUNY School of Optometry), and Alliance & Buying Groups (i.e. Vision Source, Pecca, etc).
• Ensures Luxottica continues to be a market leader by fostering relationships with key industry influencers (top doctors, event speakers, etc).
• Delivers presentations on retail experience, brand education to customers, doctors, and students.
• Educates sales leaders and enables the salesforce with content and know-how to facilitate sales and elevate customer experience.
• Creates training content around industry specifics (insurance influence, optical retail evolution, etc.)
• Co-travels with internal sales team in visiting customers to help strengthen the relationship and educate the customer on building their business.
• Supports continued NA market trends towards Eye care development and Premium eyewear needs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales, etc.
• 15+ years’ experience in the optical industry working in a similar function.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Strong presentation skills in front of large audiences Strong knowledge of selling and retail sales
• Proficient in training platforms, modules, tracking, etc. (digitally savvy)
• Negotiation skills; persuasive
• Ability to develop and maintain key relationships internally/ externally, build business trust and earns confidence with key influencers.
• Effective project management skills and strong organization/time management
• Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex environment
• Strong PC skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Well informed of industry trends and able to speak knowledgeably and confidently about the eyewear industry
• Position requires travel domestically
