POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate, Global Strategy will report into the Director of Global Strategy and play a key role in building the strategic plan, driving the Brand’s growth agenda, and supporting business development opportunities. The Associate will engage in structured problem-solving and analyze market trends and consumer data to support the organization in strategic decision-making; leading to brand health, sales growth and margin improvement. This role will cover areas such as new growth initiatives, strategic brand management, building a strong fact-base, and continuous improvement and brand expansion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Actively support the Director of Global Strategy, the VP of Global Strategy and the broader Global Leadership team in developing the Brand’s long-term strategic vision, and to communicate, track and measure progress.
• Support the ongoing strategic planning process and calendar; work with process owners and brand executives to provide updates to the management team as needed. Execute projects and/or discrete analyses and present findings and recommendations to senior management as requested.
• Serve as internal consultant for key business leaders in vetting strategic ideas by providing analytical, problem solving and strategic frameworks. Partner in identifying whitespace growth opportunities and develop plans for executive initiatives, including line extensions into new categories, new consumer segments and new markets.
• Conduct market and competitive landscape research, leverage consumer data, and run financial analysis to surface new opportunities to create value for consumers, customers and shareholders.
• Maintain the dashboard of strategic priorities for the Global Leadership Team. Assist in reporting to VF Corporate.
• Interact with VF Corporate Strategy function, as necessary, to ensure strategy development approach interfaces and aligns with enterprise-wide standards.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
• Passion for working on an iconic outdoor brand and living the brand values
• Bachelor's degree required.
• 2-5 years of experience in Management Consulting, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Strategic Planning, Business Development, or a related field. Experience with the application of market data and consumer insights in developing business strategy considered a strong plus.
• Experience related to the consumer/retail industry strongly preferred.
• Strong judgment, problem-solving and business acumen.
• Exceptional analytical skills, including advanced excel modeling and statistics.
• Entrepreneurial orientation, client-service mentality and sensitivity in working across cultures are required.
• Excellent communications and presentation skills, both written and verbal, including ability to distill large data sets and to craft strategic narratives. Must be able to connect work to the "big picture" brand and business goals.
• Demonstrated track record of academic and/or professional achievement.
• Must be able to perform under short deadlines and in high visibility settings.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks on very tight deadlines and strong project management.
• Advanced Excel modeling and Powerpoint are required.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time by air and overnight.
