Design Services Event Lead
Reports to: Design Manager
Objective:
This position will support, and report to the Design Manager. The Event Lead will create & execute plant and floral design projects instore and off-site. This position requires a thorough knowledge of brand aesthetic, designing with living materials and an ability to translate trend and seasonality into onsite projects. The Event Lead will possess an understanding of the retail, visual, horticulture and events systems in order to ensure that all projects are on-brand, cohesive, and appropriate. This role will require a flexibility to balance schedule, transportation to off-site projects, retail needs, inventory control, client sensitivities, and team growth. This position primarily will focus on floral wedding/event design, but should be flexible to assist with all areas of Design Services based on the needs of the business as well as some operational responsibilities. This position will need to lead and work productively with the Design Services team and take initiative to work with others toward a common, collaborative goal. This is a very hands on program with a great deal of planting and designing coming from the Event Lead.
Logistics
• Daily communication with Design Manager; weekly meetings and per-project follow-ups as needed.
• Manage client design communication and client file.
• On-site design and installation of weddings and corporate/social events.
• Create material palettes with focus on retail product.
• Provide specialized design and floral expertise to plan, design and create floral arrangements/installations for events.
• Coordinate and facilitate consultation of event design with Design Manger.
• Flexible with scheduling and willing to work weekends.
• Awareness of retail concepts, cohesion with visual inspiration, and collaboration with all departments.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft office.
• Willingness to learn back of house operations to assist with the logistics of the program.
• Works well with others but can also be efficient in a solo environment.
• Order and purchase flowers and supplies from wholesalers and growers.
Design
• Contribute design inspiration and project ideas on a regular basis
• Plan event according to client's requirements, utilizing knowledge of design and properties of materials.
• Ability to translate customer needs into brand appropriate designs
• Working knowledge of basic hand tools
• Ability to accept feedback on collaborative projects
• Understanding of art, style, and use of color
• Eye for composition
• Identify trendsetting ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and websites.
• Inherent interest in horticulture and natural elements; comfortable with natural environments and inclement weather
• Maintain awareness of home and garden trends and how to apply them to brand aesthetic
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspace
• Should be able to lift at least 40lbs

Desired Skills & Experience
• Must possess strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking with the ability to formulate ideas into action.
• 2+ years related experience in the floral/event design industry.
• Have excellent organizational skills.
• Superb written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Must possess a strong work-ethic with a team-oriented attitude to pack, design and install events within a given deadline.
Requirements
• Must be able to lift 50lbs. on a daily basis.
• Must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Basic horticultural knowledge required.
• Possess effective and positive communication skills.
• Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work weekends.
• Understanding of art, style, and the use of color to make beautiful arrangements and installations.
