Position Overview:
The Budget & Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for preparing the Annual Operating Budget and Strategic Plan, supporting and assisting the business areas with expense control or revenue enhancement decisions, and completing all internal/external reporting to Ascena and Executives.
Support the various business areas by monitoring expenses and assisting with expense control or revenue enhancement decisions within their areas:
• Create an awareness of plan vs. actual expenses (variance analysis) as well as making sound business decisions (ROI’s should be emphasized)
• Communicate with applicable business areas on an on-going basis to ensure accurate financial outlooks
• Create partnership that encourages the business areas to utilize Financial Planning as a resource to assist in decision making
• Adapt to sound strategic/business decisions throughout the year that result in differences/adjustments to the annual operating budget
Prepare the Annual Operating Budget and Strategic Plan by providing necessary support to applicable business areas within the company to ensure maurices has challenging yet attainable short and long term plans:
• On-going communication with the business areas to assist in completing a solid plan
• Review expenses for reasonableness, logic, and accuracy as they are received back from business areas
• Understand and challenge assumptions/expenses where appropriate
• Roll total company information together to ensure alignment with Ascena guidance
Complete all internal and external reporting to Ascena, Executives, and the business areas including monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports:
• Knowledge of any recurring and impending due dates
• Consistent/thorough review of work
• Strong maurices/retail knowledge to assist in reasonableness review
Education:
• Minimum four year degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience:
• 3-5 years of accounting or finance related experience required
• Planning/forecasting experience preferred
Skills:
• Strong PC skills (MS Office/Excel proficiency)
• Excellent inquiry and analytical skills
• Strong sense of fiscal responsibilty and maurices strategic direction
• Ability to work well in a team setting
• Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, listening, follow-up
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good materiality judgment
