Job Summary:
The VP, Digital Marketing Technology will be responsible for directing the customer facing e-commerce webpages, mobile, and tablet interfaces and the overall usability of childrensplace.com. This position will direct and interface with UI Designers and Developers and manage daily e-commerce production operations.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
• Partner with the Chief Transformation Officer to establish a customer experience strategy that aligns with company objectives
• Direct the daily operations of the E-commerce Production Team, ensuring desktop and mobile updates are executed seamlessly
• Effectively manage day to day ecom vendor relationships, (ie MotionPoint, Skava, Bazaarvoice, etc.)
• Work closely with Creative Team, Merchants, Marketing, and other cross-functional partners to elevate e-commerce offering and experience
• Continually review e-commerce policies and processes in order to improve efficiency and execution
• Direct market and user research to identify the ideal user or customer experience for shoppers
• Strategize and develop UX/IA documentation (site outlines, process flows, sketches, scenarios, personas, wireframes, and navigation models) for web, tablet, and mobile applications to define functionality and user behavior
• Develop mock-ups/prototypes and perform formal and informal usability studies
• Strategize and brainstorm with Product Managers, Visual Designers, Technical Architects, Developers, end users, and other stakeholders to determine user interface needs
• Define and develop current GUI style standards and design practices across all of the internal and external platforms
• Partner with Development Team to ensure technical feasibility and flawless implementation
• Provide options based on technical and time constraints
• Create and delegate projects from the design phase through final testing and QA
• Review designs throughout the development lifecycle to ensure integrity of information architecture and usability guidelines
• Maintain expert knowledge about emerging user interface / interaction design standards and best practices
• Evaluate the competitive landscape and research UI trends in e-Commerce
• Direct the scheduling, coding, and deploying of site updates provided by E-commerce Creative and/or Marketing Teams
• Manage Customer Service Department and oversee collaboration with external call center.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 15+ years of experience
• Retail industry experience preferred
• Experience with tuning web page HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code to minimize browser load times
Skills and Behaviors:
• Ability to manage and motivate the E-commerce Production Team
• Demonstrated ability to produce detailed wireframes, site outlines, process flows, and navigation models in a thorough, clean, and concise way using industry standard tools (Visio, Omnigraffle, InDesign, or similar)
• High proficiency in Adobe CS Creative and Web suite (Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Knowledge of typography, page/screen layout, composition, and color theory
• Expertise in front end web technologies including HTML/DHTML, XHTML, DXHTML, XSL, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery
• Knowledge of current browsers, their behaviors, differences, and compatibility issues and how to code for them to create a seamless front end UX
• Understanding of UI design fundamentals
• Ability to create a visual design document (png/psd) and create a near-pixel front-end web-based UI
• Ability to manage and mentor front end developers to maintain quality of deployed code and integrity of page designs
• Understanding of general algorithm design principles to ensure code is written as efficient as possible
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business environments
