About the Role
As a part of the Men's Merchandising team, the Buyer will have full ownership over several apparel categories. You will use client feedback to create and execute merchandise strategies and assortment plans that deliver strong financial targets. The ideal candidate is passionate about product and trends and is excited to delight Stitch Fix clients with best in class product.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
• Develop and drive the overall strategic business vision for the Denim, Outerwear and Premium brands categories through identifying competitive market, client and financial opportunities
• Leverage client feedback and data to create strategic and balanced assortments that serve our clients and deliver on financial goals
• Recruit, train, manage and develop direct report(s)
• Partner with the planning team to construct and manage a category of business to seasonal financial targets
• Manage monthly competitive shopping to gain a deep understanding of trends, pricing and client right experiences to push the business forward
• Utilize your knowledge of product excellence and the price/value equation to develop and identify client-right product in the market and ensure each individual product choice delivers on our client promise
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with our vendor partners and leverage their unique capabilities to create the best product possible
• Strategically scout new vendors & styles to support key product strategies
• Travel as needed to market vendor meetings, trainings and production factories
• Partner with vendors and internal Exclusive Brands team to develop, source, and buy new product
• Leverage the expertise of cross-functional Data Science partners to build a robust vision for the product categories
• Build strong relationships with cross-functional Engineering partners to develop and iterate on internal tools and systems that support the Buying process
We’re excited about you because…
• You have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5+ years of experience in a retail buying role
• You have at least 1-2 years of experience managing direct reports and are excited to mentor, develop and inspire others
• You have a passion for product and prior apparel product development & buying experience
• You are technically savvy and love learning new systems
• You are an analytical thinker and are excited to dive deep into data and use client feedback to drive assortment decisions
• You enjoy building strong relationships with internal and external partners
• You are an excellent communicator with strong negotiation skills
• You are motivated by challenge and are able to positively lead through change and ambiguity
• You are comfortable taking calculated risks to achieve results
• You thrive and grow in a feedback driven environment
• You are able to travel up to 25% of the time
